Fantastic game Lovely comic book artstyle with interesting characters, enemies and a fun spin on a turn based party strategy game. Picking fast and slow abilities to line up with the best effects, really incentivises taking each action seriously. Each character also gets two skill trees, so you can easily have your companion go from damage to tank very easily. My hours here are low, as I ended up getting it on another platform and finishing it there.
Cool game, but for the love of god use cheat engine to run it on 2 X speed, it's unplayable otherwise

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The overworld looks like a board game so most of the time you are on a straight line with no choice of path, this kills the sense of exploration, freedom, discovery and in the end, fun. That alone destroys the whole game. The game feels simplified or dumbed down, as if it was made for mobile. If you are a small child this might be great for you, but most players on steam will probably not like this. When you get to a town there is no town screen, just characters' pictures on top of the overworld map, if the map wasn't awful this might be ok, but it's not The game is based off a comic book with a good source story but the design of the game doesn't tell the story well through gameplay and natural development. The battle system is fine, the art style is very nice and the music isn't bad. If you like kids' games and mobile games it could be enjoyable. 5/10
This game takes the best aspects of every single kind of RPG you know: the roguelike stuff, the battle systems, the character and class archetypes, the monsters and villains, the gearing, the talents/perks, the graphics and aesthetics, the music, and so forth. And of course the graphic novel style is just par excellence. Hints from anime like Berserk and Full Metal Alchemist were also endearing. It's an overall all-in-one classic RPG experience. I had this in my wishlist a good while before I was gifted it. I should have played it far sooner.
Characters in this game are great and the world feels interesting and the story is fine, but the gameplay, oh dear... IT SUCKS! I always try to complete games even if they suck and I managed to complete this one but that is not something i'm proud of doing. I rally can't recommend this game but I can recommend that you use a controller while playing it.
I wanted to like this game, I really did, but I just can't. I've been playing it on and off on my Steam Deck for a couple of years now. Usually late at night, I'll lay in bed and play a little. At first, I really liked the game. Story wasn't anything special, but it was alright and the characters serviceable. But this game just isn't casual-player friendly. If you're like me, and you just want to enjoy the story and plan on going through dungeons just the one time, you will have an awful time. The game is unfortunately built around an equipment grind, where you'll need to replay the same dungeon over and over to level up and get equipment drops that are random. If you just complete the dungeon once, making sure to battle every enemy on the way, which is what I usually do in games to ensure I'm never underleveled (which works most of the time) you will eventually reach a point where you just can't progress because you're too weak. It was when I reached Deadwatch when it happened to me. The fights became even more of a drag than they already were with the slow animatons, the enemies were 2-hitting my party and I could hardly do any damage to them. My party were level 17 and most of my gear ranged from level 9-13 with a couple of 17 gear. All because I didn't repeat the previous dungeon and chose to play on normal difficulty instead of the higher ones for harder enemies with a chance at better gear drops. It's this lame, boring repetitive grind that ended up killing my motivation to finish this game. You'll see people defend this by saying stuff like how the grind isn't even that bad compared to older JRPGs, well I'd avoid those awful games also. I've played a bunch of old JRPGs recently, like Final Fantasy 8 and 9, and while they did have a bit of grind to them, I found that I was always at an adequate level as long as I finished every battle I came across while exploring. That's my golden rule when playing any RPG. As I progress through the story, enter new areas, I won't leave that area until I kill every enemy present (at least once if they respawn) as I naturally explore. If at any point I find myself underleveled after taking the time to do this, I'll consider the game too much of a tedious grind that has no respect for my time. Most games nowadays have a difficulty to lessen that grind. This game appears to have a difficulty selection when going through a dungeon, but all that really is, is choosing what kind of gear you're going to get. You will still need to grind that dungeon repeatedly to hopefully get the gear dropped for your party members you're using. By the time I got to the Deadwatch dungeon, normal difficulty was listed as "impossible" for me. If you value your time and only want to experience the story in a casual way without the need to grind and repeat dungeons, you likely will not enjoy this game. This game is not friendly to the casual player. Therefore I am not recommending it.
Amazing JRPG, that reminds me of the games I played as a child. Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, and Final Fantasy 6 come to mind. Beautiful artwork, music, and character design. Definitely worth checking out, and I highly recommend Battle Chasers: Nightwar to any classic JRPG fans!
