Batman - The Telltale Series

a masterfully written spin on the batman universe and character. hugely narrative driven (your choices matter!) but not difficult to play as far as controls go. emphasis on the "series" part of the title because oftentimes it really does feel like you're watching a show

Im going straight into what makes this game a great game but most important a great batman game Telltale delivers a fantastic, story driven take on the Caped Crusader we all love that focuses just as much on the man behind the mask just as you do the bat himself. pros THEY LET YOU [spoiler]ROMANCE CATWOMAN AND IF YOU PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT YOU CAN ♥♥♥♥ HER AND SLEEP OVER AT HER PLACE FOR THE NIGHT[/spoiler] BATMAN HAS HIS WHITEOUT EYES IN HIS COWL (the eyes are the window to the soul you should never be able to see batmans emotional state unless its anger because emotions can be used offensively if the enemy was to know batman was mentally drained) You spend significant time playing as Bruce, making political and personal choices that carry real weight. The game takes surprising risks with their classic comic book lore and character origins. unlike other games since this one really lets you play bruce your kinda a double agent. your the face of wayne corp but are also the most important link of the gcpd and work with gordon as batman The crime scene investigations feel rewarding because of the playback feature and true to the character. A brilliant aesthetic touch they added lets you choose the color of every single piece of Batman's tech (like the Batcomputer, HUD, drones, detective vision ect.) to the color you like most. You can pick from yellow, purple red and blue. The quick-time events feature some of the most fluid, brutal, and cinematic fight choreography in any Telltale game. and lastly excellent performances, particularly from Troy Baker, bring incredible emotional depth to a fractured and drained Bruce Wayne. CONS Classic Telltale engine stutter and occasional frame drops occur during high action sequences but are not the worst and only occurs for like 1 sec Missing a quick-time event rarely alters the scene it usually just results in an instant, game over screen. While the narrative path feels personal, the ultimate ending hits mostly predetermined beats. If you are looking for Arkham style combat, look elsewhere. But if you want a gripping, mature detective story where your choices shape Gotham’s future, this is an absolute must play. Easily a solid 8/10.

Easily one of the most "realistic" takes on Bruce Wayne/Batman I’ve ever seen. This game really shows that big money never comes clean. Playing as Bruce feels genuinely stressful despite having endless cash, and playing as Batman makes it insanely hard to stay merciful. Balancing mercy as Batman and politics as Bruce will drive you crazy, therefore we always need Alfred to keep us sane.
