Baldurs Gate 2 has a very compelling story, with excellent overall writing. The gameplay in terms of combat is outdated in my opinion, so I'd only recommend the game, if you're in it mainly for the story and writing. My only other gripe with the game was with the pathfinding, which sometimes was very annoying and inaccurate. However, the few flaws are made up for, because of the high quality writing. I'd absolutely recommend the game.

No jebnu sem kopii mojí recenze prvního dílu jelikož je to v podstatě to stejné. No, co k tomu napsat.... Věřím že v době kdy hra vyšla to byl úplnej benger. Ale mě to težce nesedlo. Vždy se snažím dát hře co nejvíc šancí ale nepovedlo se. Ve hře je hodně kontentu, spousty úkolů, obrovský svět a prostě taková ta klasika DaD. Ale souboje mi přijdou extrémně random. Co jsem pochopil tak hra v každém souboji hází na pozadí kostkou a podle toho se určuje zásah. Ale souboje jedou realtime a není to na kola jako ve 3 díle baldurs gate. V tu chvíli je v tom chaos a musíte toho řešit obrovskou spoustu. Hra jde sice pauzovat a rozdávat rozkazy ale i tak sem nebyl schopen v soubojích excelovat. Nonstop sem načítal. Spoustukrát opakoval. Pro mě tato hra byla bolest a jsem rád že ji mám za sebou... - The old "pause right when the game starts and drop items" trick was patched out in the Enhanced Edition >>> WHY?! it was a freaking feature! You have patched out a feature of the game! wtf is wrong with You?! - party members blocking on each other is a nightmare in combat scenarios - some new voice actors are "meh" - new content is of questionable quality - same random encounter 4th time in a row - the vanilla BG boots of speed worked differently - path finding is not good
It's a pretty solid game for the era. Being a GenX guy, I like the digital version of the the old TTRPG AD&D. But my biggest issue with the Baldur's Gate series runs through all 3 of the brand platforms and is really impossible to miss. They make you kill the same old bosses over and over again like they are Wile E Coyote. The writers relying on this same old broken trope over and over again is LAZY. And it seriously cheapens the entire experience. In fact, it gets so old that I eventually just turn on Story Mode and Party AI for the climax, because they're going to make you kill the same rule-breaking boss multiple times to win. So the final climax scene might require a half dozen reloads due to party wipes in intentionally unwinnable fights. But fairness isn't really my problem. Lack of creativity and imagination -- that's the real problem! At least change their look and their name when the cousins come seeking blood feud vengeance; or something.
Was a great game when it was released and everyone knows it's name. Today there are some minor things to mention, e.g. every time party members die you need to pick up and sort through & reapply all their gear. Also some bugs (in the added content from the EE) sometimes preventing quests from being completed, but not in the original content. The AI controlling party members is ok I guess, but it is not very smart which makes some fights very hard if you rely on it, which I did, because I did not want to control 6 characters at once.
