Back in the Swamp

Back in the Swamp may be a rather short game, and there’s little in the way of defined story and lore to make sense of it all, but sometimes a game just wants you to explore and experience a world the developers built for you. It’s clear that something bad happened here, and the oppressive isolation of the environment – even when you arrive at a couple populated settlements – just keeps adding to the atmosphere and the feeling of being alone, perhaps with the fate of what’s left of the world resting entirely in your hands. In all, this is a game to look at and listen to – to experience – more than anything else. A very enjoyable post apocalyptic Myst-like game. Not very chalenging, but a nice 4-5 hour play.

Игра с выдающимся визуалом, в лучших традициях старых point and click игр. Аутентичный мир, окружение которого хочется исследовать и разглядывать каждый его уголок. Достойное саунд-сопровождение — в некоторых местах треск и шорохи амбиента реально пугают. Моё прохождение на 100% заняло около 3 часов. Из недостатков: простые задания "возьми, принеси, поставь". Местами длинные, пустые переходы наскучивали, но их заполняет красота и подача мира, нивелируя "пустоту". Немного разрушает погружение обратный полёт камеры — игрок будто идёт спиной вперёд. Местами это сильно режет погружение. Всем любителям фантастики в стиле Стругацких, Лема, Булычёва — 100% рекомендация к прохождению.

This is a short indie game and a classic B-movie mixed together into a rough little diamond. Positives: The raw style and atmosphere in the visuals and sound perfectly fit the mood of the world. Negatives: I struggled with the controls (arrow-key system) and wished there was a better way to move around. The puzzles are okay, but you’d better not rush - some objects are really well hidden.
