TL;DR bad dev, abandoned, sailing ok, building ok, janky as heck As others have stated the devs like to abandon games and this is no exception. Atlas hasn't been updated for years and it's not complete. Official servers are shut down. Get it on huuuge sale if you like pirate/sailing/building/janky butt. If you enjoy ARK then you can probably put some hours in this one too. But you should know it's the same old janky-danky-potato. I do like some parts of the game as a PvE solo player, but I'll give it a negative review just because the devs abandon games and don't seem to have a clear path how to develop their products to a decent level. Some aspects of the game feel like intentionally made to be butt. Some parts of the game like sailing and building are fine but so many things are just not there. Pros + Building and sailing is fine + Taming animals + NPC crewmembers + Finding treasures and sea crates is rewarding + The sea looks beautiful / spooky when sailing + Server settings let you customize a lot of things + Map size is pretty decent with many islands to go to Cons - Clunky as heck like ARK, you swim to the shore and jump 2m up in the sky for no reason - Clunky as heck like ARK, you can get stuck in your boat when you throw a hook - Half of the animations are just potato - Forced headbob is sickening in 1st person - You can only equip one offensive item? Really? - A cup of coffee shouldn't spoil in 5 mins, come on - Taking care of your vitamins is pretty annoying early on - The Ui is pretty poorly done, scrolling a small box to see buffs etc. is just bad - The freeports are boring, just a few NPCs standing still and the layout is all the same - Many frustrating things in the game, probably made to be like that for no reason It's way easier to 'enjoy' the game if you give yourself some freedom and enable commands. I spawned in some metal just to get some progress going on. I normally don't give negative reviews but these devs deserve it. Their games feel like half-baked potatoes. And I don't like half-baked potatoes. Get their products on sale if at all.
Since this game is no longer being supported by the devs, people might ignore it, but the modding community and public-modded servers are alive and well and are very fun!
