fun but very tiring 4/5

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Atelier Rorona is the charming first modern Atelier game. The synthesis is simple but engaging, and battles are basic and fast-paced. I like the character of Rorona and some of her friends, and the setting of Arland is nice. This game plays more like Marie than other Atelier games that I have played.
Heard a lot of positive things about Atelier, and as a big JRPG fan (Including FALCOM and Complile Heart, apparently related to Gust) and ALSO as a fan of moe/slice-of-life anime... I thought Rorona would be Jackpot! ...But it wasn't. Rorona is a low-quality JRPG. BGM/SFX is mediocre to bad, gameplay repetitive and easy, clunky UI, 3D visuals and animations are very meh, translation is very wonky, unskippable cutscenes and attacks, game is vague and the story delivery is atrocious... It needs a restoration mod to fix inventory loading times and polish up the graphics. But these two surprised me the most: -The entire game is a RPG-crafting system first. You'd expect the main focus to be absolutely smooth and fun, but it isn't; crafting is vague, monotonous and clunky. It's more like inventory-manager & item-order-fulfilling simulator. -And for a game focused on characters-doing-things, any of that is very bland. The town/world feel devoid of life and NPC's keep saying the same lines for years. Main characters feel kind of flat and the story/ending delivery was... underwhelming, lol. I guess to soften this, the character portrait art is nice and the voice acting is great, and particularly fits Rorona herself very well. She can be cute, for how one-dimensional she is. Also personally didn't mind the time mechanics that often seem to get criticized; It gives the game structure and SOME challenge, but still wasn't too punishing. Also, Esty exists. Actually, in terms of feel/style/quirkyness/structure this felt VERY, VERRRY similar to early Neptunia... but worse unfortunately. Just play Neptunia. I'll play Totori next to see how it compares, maybe other Atelier games are way better? But this wasn't a great start to me.
If you like Spice of life genre anime. This is the game version of that.
It is a relatively old game with ok graphic and basic combat systems, but the core gameplay of making powerful items by transferring and combining traits is solid.
so much better than atelier totori cant wait to play the rest of the arland series!
nice
