About
Astrophobia is heavily inspired by the novella At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft.
In 2001, astronauts Ben Dyer (the player) and Henry Danforth are sent to the Moon as part of a secret mission, Project Kadath, to study ancient megalithic architecture far older than humanity. The civilization that built it did not survive, but something else did.
This is a slow-burn and narrative-focused experience told through character dialogue and environmental storytelling. The plot will unfold throughout multiple set-pieces and locations, such as the moon base, the moon's surface, and the monolithic city beneath the ground.
Immersive PSX-era aesthetics, including affine warping, vertex snapping, distance culling, pixelated textures, and low-poly models.
Exploration-focused gameplay centered on finding key items to progress through the story, enhanced by unique set pieces and locations.
Optional CRT VFX for even more retro vibes.
Horrific monsters based on Lovecraft's deep mythos and creature design.
An original soundtrack.
Low gravity hops, obviously.
Average playtime is 45-60 minutes depending on your pace. You may get even more playtime if you are trying to 100% the achievements!
NOTE: Astrophobia is best experienced in one sitting. However, there is an automatic save feature that activates at the beginning of each level, incase you need it.

In the best traditions of H. P. Lovecraft :))
Really enjoyed this one! The atmosphere is creepy, the tension builds nicely, and there are some genuinely unsettling moments. The game does a great job creating that feeling of never knowing what’s going to happen next. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy short indie horror games. 👍 Full Walkthrough with all Achievements: https://youtu.be/eH8kqKSxDks
It's an enjoayble little horror experience with an oobvious love for lovecraft. The visuals are a great homage to the early days of 3D consoles and the built in CRT filter is one of the best ones I've seen so far. Really adds a lot to the mood and atmosphere. The sound design is also excellent. Fits right into the retro aesthetic while not using it as an excuse to be lazy about it or use some low quality stock effects (might still be stock, but it doesn't sound cheap). The writing does what it needs to do. If you're familiar with Lovecraft stories and especially with "At the mountains of madness", as the dev quotes it as direct inspiration himself, you know what you're in for. The dialogue is fine and you can see the "twist" coming from a mile away, but I don't think anyone was trying to reinvent the cosmic horror wheel here. This is obviously a pastige and not a bad one at that. There's much worse ways to spend a couple of bucks for about an hour of enetertainment and I'd like to see what this dev can do in the future if they decide to step beyond walking sims and try to put a little more of themselves into their writing instead of leaning too hard on established works. I'm still giving it a thumbs up withouth a single bit of regret for having enjoyed it and supported someone in their creative endeavors.
cool game
Fun little short indie walking sim about finding a pyramid on the moon and an ancient city underneath. Story is predictable and the end exposition is a bit too on the nose, but the end cutscene is fun and even though both of the twists are predictable, one of them still cool. It's $3 and made by one dude, it'll take you 20 minutes. Go for it.
Great little game! The atmosphere was captured well, the graphics are lovely to look at, and as a small game you can finish in a single evening, it’s a fantastic experience. I’d love to see more like this.
