One of the best automation games out there. If you enjoy Subnautica, Satisfactory, or Factorio, you'll feel right at home here. Astro Colony takes the core loop those games nail — build, automate, optimize — and puts its own spin on it. The key thing to know going in: this is a game that rewards good planning. If you throw things together haphazardly, it can feel a little grindy. But once you set your systems up correctly and watch everything process smoothly on its own, that's where the real fun kicks in. Getting that satisfying, self-sustaining flow going is what kept me coming back. Definitely pick this one up — you won't regret it.
this is very nice and relaxing sandbox game, it is also well optimized. options here are limitless and freedom is in every aspect of the game. i really do not understand why people trash it by own reviews, I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes to build stuff and manage/convert resources into shiny things. --- edit after 28h: this game is a MUST HAVE

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's pretty buggy. Mostly ok if you're single player but pretty much forget it if you want to do co-op. As for the game, when it isn't crashing or bugging out or just not loading things until you reload the game; My overall feeling is it's slow. Things are mined slow, transported slow, constructed slow. The solution to this is usually /more everything/ but the logistics feel really tedious to do. I do really enjoy the logic blocks, they are different than I've seen in other games. And since you can attach them in various ways and places it gives you a lot of power over machines and belts. Co-op bugs: Placing 50+ blocks at a time seems to disconnect other players. Players can not join an in progress game and you must save, return to lobby, and reload in with everyone. Non-Host players (Or everyone if it's a dedicated server) don't always get things loaded in. Most notably gas geysers. (You must find a planet, exit the server, re-enter the server, and then look if it has geysers). But there's other things as well. Belts are often weird in how they connect to things diagonally. Transport Pipes have some sort of memory and rules on how you can join 2 pipes and sometimes you have to do weird shapes to make things merge and go the right direction.
Looking through the reviews, I don't understand the negative reactions or people mentioning "clunkiness". I have an old system now (i9 9900k, GTX 1080) and find the game runs perfectly. I love factory games and this one is no exception. The initial stages aren't nearly as tedious as some of the bigger factory games out there. I have yet to explore storyline / stargates but am looking forward to it. Updates seem to be frequent and the dev seems very engaged. 5/5.
An honest take on Astro Colony: Great foundation, but the late-game grind needs work. The game runs like a dream—seriously, the optimization is top-tier. I can have sprawling factories and dozens of moving objects without a hitch, which is more than I can say for some other games in the genre. However, I'm hitting a wall with the end-game. The "building" part becomes a chore when you're trying to scale up. Setting up massive automated asteroid catchers (64+) is less about creative problem-solving and more about tedious, repetitive clicking. This is where the game starts to feel like a second job. The biggest pain point is the deconstruction tool. It's needlessly restrictive. If you want to clear out an area, you're forced to mass-delete only one specific type of object in a single plane. God forbid you want to delete a complex chain of buildings or a blueprint you no longer need. You have to do it piece-by-piece, block-by-block. A Plea to the Devs: The Blueprint Designer is a good start, but we need a proper copy-paste system for groups of objects. I should be able to select half of my factory, mirror it, and paste it elsewhere. This would make the late-game construction feel like actual engineering, not manual labor. Please, for the love of all that is automated, rework the deconstruction system. Let us mass-select and delete anything in an area without fighting the UI. It would make the game ten times more enjoyable for those of us who want to build big. Verdict: A solid, well-optimized game that needs some major QOL love to truly shine in the late game.
Everything works but it feels unfinished for a 1.0 release. If this came out as it is now in early access, i could see people getting excited.
dont recognise myself in the negative reviews, so far it has been great :)
I've been enjoying Astro Colony quite a lot. It still needs a bit of polish here and there, but the core gameplay is solid, fun, and genuinely interesting. Instead of feeling like just another factory-building game, it brings its own ideas and mechanics to the genre, which keeps things fresh and rewarding to explore. One thing that really stands out is the developer. They're very active on Discord, regularly answering questions, listening to feedback, and interacting with the community. That's becoming increasingly rare these days, and it's great to see a developer so invested in improving their game. If you enjoy factory-building and automation games, Astro Colony is definitely worth checking out.
i would highly recommend this game to other users because you get to explore, create, and let your imagination run wild!
Spent a few hours picking at some rocks just for those rocks to make my rock bigger. Found out, you can create a chain of planet sized rocks infinitely. Ordered my new wife off amazon. (She actually arrived, WOW!) Game runs more smooth than peanut butter. Kudos to the dev ♥ 10/10 would play again.
