For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

ASKA nails the fantasy of founding a Viking village from nothing; only the Iron Age grind keeps it from being a must-play.
STATE: Dropped at the Iron Age tier, played solo on Steam Deck. Early Access, reviewed as of June 2026.
Design Intent
You're the chief of a Viking settlement: you assign roles, your villagers automate the work (gathering, crafting, supply chains), and the village grows itself. The human player manages and fights, the tribe does the labor.
What Works
A lot, and this is where the 8 comes from. You genuinely build a Viking village from nothing, and it feels exactly like that: you start with almost nothing, assign your first roles, and watch raw land slowly turn into a living settlement with real working supply chains. The automation is the heart of it and it's deeply satisfying, the priority system is intuitive, and the whole thing has a real atmosphere, the world is moody and convincing and the creatures and enemies are full of character (genuinely charming designs). The invasions are a highlight: defending the village you built with your own hands, watching it hold or break, gives all that management real stakes. It's the most complete thing I've played in this niche since Bellwright, graphics are good, progression is solid, and on Steam Deck the frame rate dips sometimes but stays perfectly manageable. When ASKA is humming, it sells the Viking-chief fantasy better than almost anything out right now.
What Breaks
None of this kills the game (it's an 8 for a reason), but here's where it loses me for now. The pacing collapses once you reach the Iron Age. Producing resources and upgrades for the whole village slows to a crawl, and that's where I lost interest. I get the intent (a deliberate brake to stretch playtime), but it's too much: it doesn't add depth, it adds waiting. And it works against the genre's whole point, a village game like this can't lean on the human player to gather and craft by hand; the fun is delegating and commanding, so when the grind drags you back into being the workhorse instead of the chief, it undercuts itself. Medieval Dynasty handles that balance better. What makes the brake hurt more is that the escape from it doesn't work either. Combat is stiff, and on Steam Deck with a controller it fought me as much as the enemies did. Blocking with a shield exists, but it's clumsy to weave in with your light and heavy attacks, there's no parry, and crucially there's no lock-on, so you're aiming blocks and swings with the free stick at an enemy the camera won't hold onto. I play a lot of soulslikes, so maybe I'm spoiled, but the rule stands: the moment you build combat around blocking, you need a lock-on. On top of that, the army is gated behind drops that never came: I killed at least a dozen of the horned, goat-like creatures and not one dropped a horn, so I could never raise a fighting force. Between stiff combat and a blocked army, the one thing that might have pulled me past the Iron Age brake, going out to hunt bosses, wasn't really available to me. Worth knowing: this is built for co-op (up to four), so solo the entire workload lands on you, which makes the mid-game grind bite harder.
What I'd Want Next
Three things. Ease the Iron Age brake (faster late production or more automation, so the chief keeps managing instead of getting demoted to laborer). Add a lock-on, the single biggest combat fix, and it would make blocking actually usable on a controller. And loosen the horn drop rate so raising an army isn't down to luck. Any one of these keeps me playing longer.
Verdict
This is a genuinely good game and an easy recommendation for the right player. Buy it if you love village builders and want that satisfying "found a village, assign roles, watch it grow" loop, especially if you enjoyed Bellwright or Medieval Dynasty. It's worth the price, and right now there isn't much else this complete in the genre. Play it in co-op if you can, since solo makes the grind heavier. The only real caution: a mid-game that slows to a crawl, and combat that doesn't hold up on a controller (no lock-on, no parry). It's Early Access, and both are exactly the kind of thing the devs can tune, so I'll be back. 8/10.
