About
ASHES OF THE DAMNED: THE FORGOTTEN WARDYou awaken inside an abandoned psychiatric ward with no memory of how you arrived.
The exits refuse to open. The lights fail without warning. Somewhere in the darkness, something is moving through the asylum with you.
Explore the ward, follow the clues left behind by its patients, solve its puzzles, and uncover your connection to the place. There is no combat. When something finds you, your only option is to keep moving.
Search multiple floors of the abandoned asylum, including patient rooms, treatment areas, offices, communal wards, and forgotten medical spaces.
Use your map and objectives to navigate the building while searching for patient files, collectibles, puzzle items, and pieces of the ward’s history.
Certain rooms trigger the protagonist’s thoughts, revealing his reactions to the suffering and events that took place there.
Discover patient files, photographs, personal belongings, and other objects left behind by the people who lived and worked inside the asylum.
Each discovery reveals another fragment of the ward’s history and brings you closer to understanding why this place feels familiar.
Some objects provide answers. Others leave you with questions that may have been better left buried.
After discovering a strange pair of glasses, you gain access to Spirit Vision.
Use it to reveal hidden puzzle pieces scattered throughout the asylum. Find every piece, reconstruct the damaged photograph, and uncover the combination needed to open a locked safe.
The asylum is not empty.
As you progress, supernatural entities begin to appear throughout the ward. Some encounters are brief warnings. Others place you directly in danger.
You cannot fight back. Pay attention to your surroundings, keep moving, and never assume that a room is safe simply because you have already searched it.

If you like to walk around aimlessly in a very empty feeling map of just finding random files and doing nothing else (same asylum map from demonologist) with random one off encounters with cheap full screen jumpscares that arent even scary. You'll probably like this. I tried it out and walked around each room of the asylum. You look for patient files to find out the story of what happened. You dont avoid monsters like the store page makes it out to belive. Intact, you purposely get killed instantly by the monster after finding the file to be teleported back to where you started but there is a book with multiple pages telling you the story of what happened to the patient that you just discovered. And you cant progess until you've heard the narrator tell the whole story of like 10 pages of story. I quit the game bored after discovering the second monster and having to sit and listen to the multi page story (my twitch chat even said it was depressing). The only fear is if you're scaring yourself thinking the worst while walking around an empty asylum.
Ashes of the Damned: The Forgotten Ward delivers a creepy, oppressive atmosphere with a disturbing abandoned-hospital setting that keeps you uneasy throughout. Environmental details do a great job of building tension, and the game has some genuinely unsettling moments. Definitely worth checking out for fans of indie horror, FULL Walkthrough here: https://youtu.be/XTIPTBCtOCA

Ashes of the Damned: The Forgotten Ward is a first-person psychological horror game where you explore an abandoned psychiatric ward, uncover patient files, solve puzzles, and use Spirit Vision to reveal hidden clues while trying to figure out your connection to the building. Pros ✔️ Some of the environmental details look good - I specifically stopped to appreciate things like the cobweb work. There are lil pieces of the environment where you can see some care went into them. ✔️ It does indeed run - That is admittedly a VERY low bar, but I tried to come up with positives while playing and this was one of them. ✔️ Spirit Vision is a neat idea - Finding the glasses and using them to reveal hidden clues gives the exploration a little more to do than just wandering around and reading files. Cons ❌ The optimization is horrible - It was using way more of my computer than I expected for what was actually happening on screen, without the visuals or performance really justifying it. ❌ The horror did absolutely nothing for me - The jump scares were pathetic at best, and I spent most of the game wandering around wondering when I was actually supposed to be scared. At one point I was literally asking, "Where's the spoop?" ❌ The presentation feels like corners were cut - The patient portraits especially stood out because they use AI-generated images as a starting point. For characters whose stories I am supposed to care about, even stock photos or willing friends would have given them more humanity. Conclusion I gave Ashes of the Damned a fair shot, especially because I enjoyed Roll or Die from the same developer, but eventually I hit a four-digit puzzle and realized I just did not care enough to solve it. That was kinda the point where the review wrote itself. I appreciate being given a key and I wanted to find something here to latch onto, but a horror game needs to make me scared, curious, or at least interested in what is behind the next door. This one never really got me there. Score 2/10 Patient Files - The ward had plenty of secrets, I just stopped caring what any of them were.
