This game refuses to launch. Despite following all of the suggestions in the forum and Steam support, I was unable to remedy the issue. When I attempted to get a refund, apparently Steam thought that the time I spend troubleshooting (the launcher will open but no the game itself) counts as "time played", and they now refuse to refund me. I'm not sure how I can accumulate "time played" on a game that will not launch....but their refusal to consider any sort of refund for a product that will not function has made it very clear to me that I will not be spending any additional money with Steam.

Feels like more of a simulation because of the command delay. You give some orders, and wait for them to take effect. Meanwhile things are changing and you have to try and adapt. I guess it makes sense in the context of this game, but I do wish I could tell units to target certain opponents. I love the overhead map, but the isometric view is not implimented well. I wish there was an option for some music during gameplay, but the sound effects are really great, and helpful to know whats going on.
Sehr Gut!!!
MUITO BOM, VALE A PENA DMS!!

Armored Brigade is a real-time tactical wargame developed by Veitikka Studios and published by Matrix Games that stands as a deliberate and thoughtful simulation of Cold War-era mechanized warfare. Rather than chasing spectacle or fast-paced action, the game is built around realism, patience, and command-level decision-making. It places the player in the role of a battlefield commander overseeing large formations of infantry, armor, artillery, and air support in a hypothetical European conflict that could have erupted during the tense decades between the 1960s and early 1990s. From the outset, it is clear that Armored Brigade is designed for players who value tactical authenticity and planning over instant gratification. The gameplay unfolds in real time on expansive, top-down maps based on real-world terrain, where hills, forests, rivers, and road networks all have a direct impact on how battles evolve. Visibility, line of sight, and engagement ranges are critical, and careless movement can quickly result in devastating losses. Units behave according to realistic doctrines, with morale, fatigue, training quality, and command delays influencing how effectively orders are executed. This creates a battlefield that feels alive and unpredictable, where even superior forces can falter if poorly positioned or caught off guard. Combat is lethal and often unforgiving, reinforcing the idea that survival depends on preparation, reconnaissance, and coordination rather than raw numbers. One of Armored Brigade’s greatest strengths lies in its depth of unit modeling. The game spans multiple decades of Cold War development, allowing players to command a wide range of historically grounded units from both NATO and Warsaw Pact forces. Early Cold War tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and support weapons behave very differently from their late-era counterparts, and understanding these distinctions is essential to success. Each faction feels distinct in doctrine and capability, encouraging players to adapt their tactics rather than relying on a single approach. Combined arms warfare is not optional but essential, as infantry, armor, artillery, air defense, and air support must work together to control the battlefield. Despite its complexity, the game makes a conscious effort to remain manageable through a clear and functional interface. Information is presented in a way that prioritizes situational awareness, allowing players to assess unit status, threat levels, and terrain effects at a glance. Orders can be issued to individual units or entire formations, and customizable behavior settings help reduce excessive micromanagement. This balance allows players to focus on higher-level tactical decisions, such as timing an advance or coordinating supporting fires, rather than constantly adjusting every unit’s actions. Visually, Armored Brigade adopts a restrained and utilitarian style that favors clarity over aesthetic flourish. The top-down perspective and clean map presentation may appear modest compared to modern 3D strategy titles, but they serve the game’s purpose extremely well. Units are easy to identify, engagements are readable, and the zoom system allows players to seamlessly shift between a broad operational overview and detailed close-ups. The lack of visual clutter reinforces the game’s emphasis on thoughtful decision-making, ensuring that the player’s attention remains on tactics rather than presentation. The single-player experience is supported by a capable artificial intelligence that understands terrain usage, combined arms principles, and defensive positioning. While no AI can fully replicate human creativity, Armored Brigade’s opponents provide a credible challenge that encourages careful play. The inclusion of a powerful battle generator greatly enhances replayability, allowing players to create varied scenarios with different forces, locations, and conditions. In addition, an active modding community and official expansions introduce new nations, equipment, and even alternate historical contexts, extending the game’s lifespan far beyond its base content. Armored Brigade does demand patience and a willingness to learn. Its mechanics are not immediately intuitive, and early mistakes can be punishing. However, the learning curve is part of its appeal, as mastery brings a deep sense of satisfaction. Watching a well-planned ambush succeed, a coordinated assault break through enemy defenses, or a desperate defensive line hold against superior forces feels genuinely rewarding because success is earned through understanding and execution rather than luck. In the end, Armored Brigade is a standout example of serious tactical wargaming. It does not attempt to simplify or dramatize modern warfare, instead presenting it as a complex, unforgiving environment shaped by terrain, doctrine, and command limitations. For players who appreciate realism, historical grounding, and methodical tactical play, it offers a rich and enduring experience. While it may not appeal to those seeking fast action or flashy visuals, it excels as a deeply engaging simulation of Cold War-era land combat and remains one of the most respected titles in its niche. Rating: 8/10
I've Heard nothing but good things about this game but if you are not a programmer or highly experienced with computers you shouldn't risk it with this game. There is about a 10% chance that this game will not launch and you will have to uninstall, reinstall, update, and change settings for the game itself, your drivers, firewall settings, threat protection, and more only for the game to fail to launch. This game looks very good and I cant wait to play it one day when I finally get a degree in computer programming or find out which advanced setting I've never heard of is preventing me from launching this game.
