Absolutely *phenomenal* game. I genuinely am in awe that a gem like this is around today. I know it just released after years of being early access, but it's like a blast to the past for me. It's incredibly easy to jump in and out of, and the gameplay is a mix of peak late 2000s/early 2010s ground and vehicle combat and some of the most insanely satisfying space combat I've ever experienced. It's a steal for the price it's at.
Play the tutorial to get the basic... otherwise game feel complexe at first. But when you get hang of it its pretty fun !!
Uncomplicated; yet incredibly clunky and hard to master. It's like the game itself has the unpolished-ness of a total-conversion mod for another game; yet it is it's own game. The art-style is nice for me, but may feel all too familiar or even outright plagiarized for others. The graphics feel like they're from the 2000's or m a y b e the very early 2010's; but it depends on the are in-game, and the point of view. But, if you're willing to tolerate all of that; it's otherwise a good game, due to it's excellent gunplay with almost R6-style lean mechanics, Halo-like gun variety, at least usable fighting vehicles, decent fighter-jet-esque gameplay, just don't get into this game expecting anything close to a modern or very polished PVP experience such as the likes of Halo: Reach or even Haze. I would recommend the game for some people, but as it stands; this game just isn't for me.
If you like games like Battlefront, UT or Planetside, this is a nice addition. Customization options and cool weapons and vehicle design, AI bots and LAN included. Very nice.
love it
Extremely fun space combat. boarding ships is the best part of this game.
Past the initial whiplash of the lack of specific comforts and adjustments brought in by newer engines, after a teething period of a few hours AFF genuinely shines as an incredible game that I wish I'd picked up when it first began its growth back in 2016. I will genuinely implore anyone who picks this up - tough out how rough it can be at the start when you don't know what you're doing and you die over and over. After a bit of experience and you start picking up the ropes, AFF turns into the best kind of diamond in the rough with a glowing community and incredible variety in gameplay with surprisingly rewarding, if simple progression.
