Expanding from three to four players, AFE2 introduces deeper team-based mechanics that reward coordination and strategic class composition. New and improved classes each bring distinct playstyles and tactical abilities to the fight, making every squad combination feel different.
The iconic xenomorphs are more ferocious than ever before. AFE2's massive variety of new xenomorphs will force players to stay mobile, maintain situational awareness, and use every tool at their disposal. From stun batons for up close melee action in those most desperate moments, to pyro and electric ammo to whittle down the unrelenting xenomorph front before they overrun you and your squad, the battle can shift from calculated tension to desperate last stand in seconds.
Beyond expanded weapon and gear customization, AFE2 introduces the Specialist – a fully customizable class that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class. Build a loadout tailored to your exact playstyle and fill whatever role your squad needs.
AFE2 launches with multiple dedicated Horde maps that push squads to their limits. Battle through escalating waves of xenomorphs and other deadly enemies, earning increasingly valuable rewards as you survive deeper into the onslaught. This is where teamwork and skill are tested at their absolute peak.

if you granted the one wish you gave to feminism was women empowerment, a gynocentric society, this is your game: where you are being bossed around with women in positions of power, getting whatever men are left in the world wiped out. this is a feminist utopia if women led.
Needs some polishing but a lot better than the reviews would lead you to believe worth it if your a fan of the first game or the Aliens universe

I normally would not write a review until I had put allot more time in on a game, but this one asks for it. I loved the first game and DLC for it, played it 300+ hours and based on that I decided to ignore the already mixed revies and give it a go. AFE2 feels like a lesser sequel or shadow of the first. The story is abysmal, who ever wrote it clearly didn't do their research as it's basically a copy paste of the control experiments from Alien Resurrection, shocker, that didn't work and I saw no explanation as to why a whole team of scientists could do worse than one person except she somehow found a way. There were so many missed opportunities and things not done too that I was scratching my head repeatedly. Warning possible mild spoilers The main bad basically only has plot armor to get through to the end and to survive what happened just previous to the end is ridiculous. Video game magic or no it was just a set piece to have what happened to her happen the way it did and give screen time to another character that frankly should not of even been there to begin with. End spoilers. Based on the story alone I would of probably refunded the game. Otherwise, the gunplay feels alright. I do like the expanded stats on weapons showing you more than the previous game however with the move to 4 player the xenos and pathogen just feel allot more spongey. The new special and elite enemies also feel lackluster to me, they just seem to be bullet sponges without adding anything new or interesting to the threats you face. I'm also disappointed that a large number of the weapons from the first game did not make it into the second. The alt fire is nice to have though. Level design was ok, but there was a goodly reuse of assets and tracking through tiles clearly from other levels. There wasn't an extreme amount of that, but it was very noticeable. There was also a real lack of set pieces or things that really made me stop and go wow. The intel all being just the same data pads too instead of items like the first one was a disappointment, that was much better environmental storytelling compared to random love letters between characters that we know nothing about. The classes just feel meh as well. A remix of what came before instead of an iteration or improvement. If anything I feel like some of them are worse than before. I quite liked playing recon, medic, and engineer in the first game. The first isn't in this game, the second doesn't even heal now, and the third has no zone control and a turret that feels very lackluster. Looking at how things unlock the class identity also looks like it will basically not exist once you rank things up all the way too. I would of frankly rather just had the classes from the first game and gave the rest of the changes a miss. A healing engineer or recon mix was my first thought on seeing the specialist class, but that's clearly not an option either at the time of the review. If things change for the better I will update the review, but right now I cannot recommend the game unless you are a megafan or just have to know.
Played the first game and had a blast with my friends, but this one? It’s an absolute letdown. From what I played, it feels like the game has been heavily influenced by a lot of the trends that have crept into modern gaming, and unfortunately, it takes away from what made the first game so enjoyable. One of my biggest issues is the constant focus on the “girl boss” type of character, which feels forced rather than natural to the story or setting. Another major disappointment is the graphics and map design. Considering there are five years between the two games, I expected to see a much bigger improvement. Instead, the environments don’t feel like a significant step up from the first game, which makes the sequel feel surprisingly dated for a game released this much later. The NPCs are another problem. They don’t seem to treat the Xenomorphs like the serious threat they’re supposed to be. There’s very little sense of fear, urgency, or desperation from the people around you. Instead, it often feels like everyone is just going about their day dealing with an ordinary pest problem. These are supposed to be Xenomorphs—one of the most terrifying creatures in sci-fi—and yet the game rarely makes them feel like an actual threat. Maybe things improve later on, but based on my time with it, I came away seriously disappointed. The first game gave me exactly the kind of Aliens experience I wanted. This one just doesn’t feel like it understands what made its predecessor fun—or what makes the Xenomorphs terrifying in the first place.
GAME is super fun.... well why the downvote u ask??? BECAUSE, between missions, u return to the ship. ok, bear with me, u START the game, u pick ur boy/girl and class and drop into the game. U are sent with a all girl boss team to RESCUE the BEST all girl boss team there is. i added the girl boss part but game literally says they are the best.... the NPCs are almost ALL dei girl bosses. annoying snarps even when u walk past them. one guy is the armory vendor. hes like ur big brother in captin america or something, ww2 cartoon crap. it comes off super bad. the other guy is ur pilot, raptor... hes not horrible but hes not good either. The ONLY good npc is PIPER. shes cool and its calming when u have to actually deal with her vs the others. who make u want to scuttle the ship onto the planet for a story mission. the game-play, is fun. if u liked the first one, it feels very much more of that with an extra person which as i pointed out has been very fun. tldr: NPCs are all DEI girl bosses minus piper, gameplay is goodness like the first one. if price or dei scare u away... u have been warned.
Not Recommended A massive step down from the first game. It needs way more time in the oven, and at £45, it is a terrible value for the lack of overall polish. I am refunding and waiting for a deep sale. Performance & Technical Mess: Running a RTX 5080 rig and performance is abysmal. Constant frame drops and horrific frame pacing issues. My very first game lasted 20 feet before the host disconnected, forcing a full minute of tedious host migration. Gameplay & Combat: Gunplay somehow feels worse than the first game. Weapons lack weight and have zero punch.Xenomorph AI is broken. They flip-flop between hyper-aggressive B-lining and wandering past you completely oblivious. Movement is incredibly stiff and clunky. The new crouch and cover mechanics feel completely useless (maybe they matter on higher difficulties with friendly fire, but here they do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). Graphics & Presentation: Visually passable, looks identical to the first game with no real upgrades.NPC facial animations are laughably bad. The lip-syncing is completely off, looking like a poorly dubbed old martial arts movie. The tough-guy dialogue and movie-line quips from the player characters are incredibly annoying rather than badass.Save your money. This bug hunt is completely uncooked.
AFE 1 8/10 This one and only cuz of technical issues and being stutter land 0/10, wait for patches.
Early impression review: First 2 hours playing everything is better than the first one! Graphics are better. Alien behavior is way more aggressive and unpredictable. 4 man teams are frantic if you have friendly fire on. The jump-scares are so much better and the level design is darker and more immersive. Will report back and add any problems as I play further.
