About
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 drops up to four players into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed to the most hostile corners of the Aliens universe. This is not a rescue mission – it’s a fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. Every room could be your last. Coordinate with your fireteam, leverage each class’s unique abilities, and adapt on the fly as encounters escalate from tense standoffs to all-out war. With deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 delivers the definitive co-op Aliens experience.

Join our Discord server, Marine.
Expanding from three to four players, AFE2 introduces deeper team-based mechanics that reward coordination and strategic class composition. New and improved classes each bring distinct playstyles and tactical abilities to the fight, making every squad combination feel different.
The iconic xenomorphs are more ferocious than ever before. AFE2's massive variety of new xenomorphs will force players to stay mobile, maintain situational awareness, and use every tool at their disposal. From stun batons for up close melee action in those most desperate moments, to pyro and electric ammo to whittle down the unrelenting xenomorph front before they overrun you and your squad, the battle can shift from calculated tension to desperate last stand in seconds.
Beyond expanded weapon and gear customization, AFE2 introduces the Specialist – a fully customizable class that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class. Build a loadout tailored to your exact playstyle and fill whatever role your squad needs.
AFE2 launches with multiple dedicated Horde maps that push squads to their limits. Battle through escalating waves of xenomorphs and other deadly enemies, earning increasingly valuable rewards as you survive deeper into the onslaught. This is where teamwork and skill are tested at their absolute peak.

Aliens : Fireteam Elite 2 is unambitious and rushed and clearly budget focused while asking more than the first game asked for but even so AFE2 has it's same fun even if it's a dancing tune that you might have gotten tired of hearing. To some it's going to be enough. But to many including myself who was a fan of the old game, it feels like an expansion to the original as opposed to a fully fledged sequel. AFE2's gameplay is much like it's original and while one may argue that it makes no sense to reinvent the wheel, the opposite is also true in a sense. AFE2 feels too similar to it's original with most of it's newer features working to a detriment to the game's overall design. New classes feel very similar to old ones with a few shiny bells and whistles and while build diversity and the sheer versatility of your options in tweaking guns and your main kit feel pretty good. It ultimately doesn't feel as impactful because of how the gameplay and level design functions at it's core. Which is to say, AFE2 plays almost identically to AFE1 but with a few new toys and menaces. The biggest impact you'll feel in gameplay especially in comparison to the original, whether you've played it or not is the fact that the squad size has gone from 3 to 4. Unfortunately however this does not feel like what the level design was built around, especially with the amount of enemies thrown at you constantly. And while this tension does help in certain setpieces, on higher difficulties where friendly fire is enabled. It means you're constantly having to not just fight the xenos but also fight for any sort of space you can get. And if AFE2 is anything like AFE1 on it's two highest difficulties that can mean death. It's not just that. It's also the sheer amount of enemies as well, some class compositions will actively get you swarmed. Too many Marauders while good with crowd control will mean you just won't have the damage to pump out to clear hordes. You will on occasion have ankle biters constantly harassing you which is annoying. I consider myself to be pretty competent at the game and especially ad clear but due to the sheer amount of angles you can be swarmed from this will inevitably happen or happen when the team's focus switches to special enemies. This isn't a problem with how many enemies there are, in certain sections with 4 players it's balanced but others do not feel catered to that. All of this means the best strategy is focusing enemies into as tight a chokehold as you possibly can. Open areas are simply too filled with angles of attack and this might not have been as much of a problem with a game scaled for 3 players, it definitely is here. It simply doesn't feel designed for 4 players in some levels. If you're hoping for more varied level design from AFE1 then you're going to be sorely disappointed. It might even have less. Objectives are mostly "get intel" or "hold out" and very little variation inbetween. It really adds to the sense that this game is incredibly unambitious. There were points where i had to up the difficulty to fight that boredom of handling the same objectives over and over again to compensate. Classes are often performing the same roles as the first game and while they might have new gadgets, it feels like nothing significant has changed in how you dispatch or control enemies. Not enough to be interesting anyway. I will give the game this much, it feels like a much much more refined version of what we got in AFE1 but doesn't quite tip over the edge into sequel territory. As for the presentation, the entire game does have a sheen of shine to it. Enemies do look nice in this game for the most part even if i expected more things like enhanced gore. However the sound in this game has problems at least for the moment, quite a few bugs and readability issues. Another problem and a callback to what i said at the start. Unambitious setting and story. Take a shot if you've heard this one before. Weyland Yutani are doing experiments on Xenomorphs on a colony. Alright, you done? It feels cliche, like a checklist of things to add to an alien story. You've got your callback to the Engineer and an entire enemy roster based on that. You've got Weyland Yutani synthetics with guns attacking you, turning the game into a third person cover shooter for a few levels. And it just feels so unambitious, so uninspired. Nothing original to it's name. Maybe that's 20th Century's fault but i digress. It's a serious problem and if you've gone into the series you will find nothing here that surprises you significantly. It doesn't help the story itself lacks any sort of tension, there is no stakes at least not very significant ones. The game's interpretation of colonial marines borders on caricature levels of quipping lines constantly, making extremely unfunny jokes and constant feeds of useless information. "I AM THE ULTIMATE BADASS" over and over again. If you want a real nightmare difficulty drinking game, try lasting the night by taking a shot everytime you hear a marine quip. In the end it really does bores me and makes me yearn for something fresh. The sheer amount of recycling of content is immense. You will notice it everywhere if you've played AFE1 alot. The music, the exact same behaviours of some enemies. Literal repeats of skills and abilities from the first game. Some weapons being almost 1:1 from the original. Decals and Outfits. It really cheapens the experience for me. It feels like i'm playing an expansion. I even noticed it in some of the prefabs of the level design, very similar but admitably given a new coat of paint at the very least. I've really really railed hard on this game for awhile, so i'm going to talk about it's praises for a bit. The game does have a significant amount of decor and customisation for your marine and weapons and even more so in build diversity. A drastic amount more than the original game. You will find some neat little thing to play around. The weapons in general feel alot less generic than the previous games with significant drawback and upsides to specialize certain playstyles in your class. The fact the game finally isn't shy from using smartlock on other weapons or even a later augment for any weapon in the game, shows that the game is willing to have some fun if you invest yourself into it. While i've talked a fair amount about the gameplay above, ultimately it is AFE which is to say that it is fun at a base level but essentially just serviceable. There isn't anything significantly exceptional here. Maybe in a more cooperative settings with friends it's more of a blast but that isn't saying much. While i have talked about the recycling of old content being significant, there is also alot that is new here. So i'd argue that it's not quite as bad as i'm making it out to be on that front. The new augment system for your weapons definitely helps with that. Ultimately AFE2 is what i said at the start. Unambitious. It's a fine enough game and i don't think i can even say it's a bad game ultimately. It's just painfully average. And while that might work for a budget title, this game isn't priced at budget. It's just outside that bracket and it will cut a lot of it's target audience. I just cannot recommend it at the price it's at. Not now. Hell no. There are simply way too many games that are more worth your time with less investment, including the original AFE and to that end, it's disappointing. Wait for sale.

Not recommended. I have 500+ hours in the first one and loved it. This is a mess in comparison. It's full of bugs, stutters, voice-overs and cutscenes that cannot be skipped, and it feels more chaotic and less tactical. I uninstalled after getting to the end of the mission in the canyon. All four team members were healthy and we were ready for the finale, a heavy synth spawned, which would have been no problem for the team, but then a cutscene started, which like I said, cannot be skipped. Apparently during the cutscene the synth heavy killed all of us because when the scene ended we were all dead.
If you liked the first one the combat is mostly the same. The dialog is bad not counting the desynced audio and facial movements. The npc faces are creepy with mouths that move too much and too many teeth showing. They have several missions that run you back through the same parts of the map as other missions (I don't mind this too much but it feels lazy to me). Played for 5 hours and I have had multiple occasions where people dropped from the match. Voice lines are very repetitive. It's 50 dollars. If none of these reasons bother you than buy the game but I couldn't recommend this game at that price.
More like Aliens: Fireteam Elite v1.5. There is not enough content here to justify a second game. At best this should be a £20 expansion to the first game. None of the gameplay issues from the first title have been addressed. Add to that the new fangled extra super special graphics that cost 3x the resources from your PC with about a 2% increase in graphical fidelity on the previous title and all the bugs and performance issues that come with that. Also, the Pulse Rifle sounds wrong. How do you ♥♥♥♥ that up?!
Let me firstly say as a woman even I am at this point annoyed with how much girl bosses and wokeness there is in this game. It would have been great if there were like a few realistic lead women in this game, but to have EVERY important character in this game to be female is now borderline poking fun and insulting. I played and loved the first game. I don't know what changed from the first game to this one, the game play feels boring, the dialog is cringy and honestly not worth $50 bucks.
I like the game and I’m having fun with it, but I hoped for much better. If you like the first AFE you will probably like AFE2 too as long as you don’t expect a big improvement over the first game. Like many say it feels like an expansion rather than a new and all around improved version. Not great, not terrible. The good stuff from the first game is still there; customize your class, skills, guns and appearance and go shoot stuff up. Graphics, maps and sound/music are just fine. There isn’t anything impressive about the game in general. The main problem with this game is that it feels a bit janky and, sadly, I don’t think it’s worth the full price unless you really want to play a horde shooter in the Alien universe. In my opinion other horde shooter games like Darktide, Helldivers 2 and Space Marine 2 have raised the bar for what you can get for your money and make AFE2 look overpriced. A lot of negative reviews get called out for having one hour or less playtime; I have played through the whole game and it really doesn’t get that much better. The first mission is enough to see most of what the game has to offer and what its shortcomings are. The game suffers from the typical UE5 stutter. It does a small shader compilation on start but it’s clearly not enough because you get stutters often during the first run of a mission (and just occasionally otherwise). Shouldn’t be a specs issue either (attached to review, plus the game is on a gen5 nvme). The animations are indeed stiff like many mention. Depending on your standards you might not care. If you come from other horde games like the ones I mentioned, the comparison will feel like you are playing a JJJ game (triple jank). As an Earth Defense Force enjoyer I’m fine with arcadey and janky games so I don’t mind much but it certainly hurts immersion in the dark and gritty context of Aliens and I am not surprised many are put off by it. Another thing I noticed from the very first mission is the weird enemy AI behaviour for the aliens. Most of the time they move the fast and nimble way you would expect xenos to move. The problem is sometimes they will clearly stop to “think” on their next step. I notice this very often for xenos on ceilings or walls, they will reach a spot where they are meant to jump somewhere else and just freeze there for a second deciding what to do. Same thing goes for one of the bigger aliens who will oftentimes run to a player, slap them once or twice and then stand still for a second before deciding to go somewhere else or target another player. I don’t know if it's somehow because the enemy is stunned by shots or something like that, but since there is no discernible animation (they literally just stand still) or any feedback I could notice, it just looks goofy. There are definitely some animations for stuns though because I’ve seen some enemies fall down and stay like that for a couple of seconds. Audio is not great either in some places. In the majority of the areas in the game the sound is just fine, but there are specific places like tunnels or some enclosed spaces where the game tries to apply some kind of effect to what I assume is to try to emulate what sound should be like in that environment. I don’t know if those sound effects are bugged, but they are absolutely terrible. As for friendly fire, I’m conflicted when it comes to it in relation to abilities. All the area of effect skills can hit you or your team. I understand it makes sense to nerf the player's ability to deal with hordes via AOE but it also makes some stuff unviable. For example, an upgrade that makes the machinist drone explode after its timer runs out becomes a troll skill. I played with someone who had it on and they topped the friendly fire stats at mission end screen lmao. Some abilities seem to be designed for use around normal difficulty or lower where there is no friendly fire. I am not complaining that there is friendly fire but one of the very few strong points this game has is the skill system and this reduces choice significantly. Not a big deal for me since I’m used to these types of games narrowing viable strategies as you raise difficulty, but it might not be fun for everyone. Honestly I like the game even with its issues but it feels unpolished and unfinished so I hope the devs can improve it.
If you like Aliens. If you liked the first Fire Team game. If you like squading up with a bunch of ab-so-lute badasses...then this game is for you! Stop being weird, grab your pulse rifle and get some!!
