Alekhine's Gun

For those not familiar with the Death to Spies franchise, you're going to have a very mediocre time. If you are, welcome to the third entry. Death to Spies is a copy (and a damn good one) of the original Hitman games. Composed entirely from Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. For all intensive purposes, it is Hitman 2 with World War 2 skin. Where the first D.T.S. game was lackluster in direction and even story, the second game Moment of Truth had far better game play, better A.I., direction and was the better of the two games. Then comes Alekhine's Gun, a game that was thrown into the trash instantly upon release and no one looked at it. It is the third entry, and just an hour and a half in, it's the superior of the three. With far better controls, and even copying Hitman: Absolution's instinct feature to find items. Much like Hitman 2, the first level of Alekhine's Gun took me nearly an hour to complete being as quiet as I could, and still getting a poor rating. The stealth is tough, and it just gives that much more satisfaction when you are able to pass an area and ghost it. While even by 2016's standards, the graphics are roughly ten years outdated. Looking almost like 2007's Hitman Blood Money. however the D.T.S. games have always been lower in budget. Introducing a system where you can purchase new weapons with points you get for each mission completion, or you can save them up and go in unarmed. The A.I. is straight out of Hitman 2 only a bit more forgiving. Certain disguises will not work and raise suspicion unless you get an different one higher in rank. Playing on harder difficulties punishes you severely for throat slitting. Playing on Hard the only way you can change an outfit is with strangulation or chloroform, using your combat knife is fun, but now you have blood all over the uniform you wanted to take. Hand to hand combat unlocks a nice cutscene of neck snaps after enough punches. Cut scenes are not skippable (if they are I haven't been hitting the right button then) and the gameplay is retro back when stealth games were actually so focused on stealth they almost forgot to put fun in them. If this is your first pick up in the Death to Spies franchise, buy the bundle. The first and second game may need widescreen mod fixes, but this works right out of the box. Welcome to the life of Soviet Union spies.

good game

i tried the first two games (death to spies), but i liked this the most. Semyon is soo cuteee, i liked him a lot. the gameplay was also kinda fun, although sometimes some parts of the game felt like too much walking and big map (like how the first two games). the ending was a bit abrupt, but was okay.
