Unbearable Pathing, ugly as hell main menu/menu design; unfortunate situation :(

LAN is not true LAN and also it does not work well. No one can see my games yet I can see their game. For a really old game it work better when it was old.

Very nostalgic, which is why I play. If you have pent up rage and want to defeat civilizations that differ from you, this is the game for you

Even though this game has some basic game mechanical flaws that were later addressed in Age of Empires II, the first Age of Empires game still stands out to me as one of the most fun and interesting of the entire RTS genre. I really appreciate the care that went into remaking this game for modern computers and operating systems. This checks a lot of late 90s nostalgia boxes for me. It also works flawlessly in Linux.
