Abathor

Abathor is an excellent homage to classic arcade 2D action games with a lot of modern quality of life upgrades thrown in to really make it pop. There's a ton of content and stages to play through along with up to 4 players at once during multiplayer. Overall very underrated game, I feel it should be a lot more visible given how good it is and how much it improves on a classic formula!

If you're an old arcade crawler like I was playing games like Cadash, Rastan, and console games like Castlevania while loving the Sega Genesis sound processor and the BGM it produced, this is the game for you!! Picking this game up at full price would have been worth it, but luckily I got it on sale, so either way owning this game is a win. It's quick, easy to pick up and there's some actual story telling throughout the game which keeps you moving. The levels never last so long that you're begging for it to be over, but it's not so easy that you can plow right through them either. This game requires timing and patience, but overall it's been a blast to play so far. The game allows you to buy accessories to level your character up with gear that enhances everything from speed to strength, etc... I cannot wait to beat it and give a final review. It's on sale now, so if you got about 10 bucks to play with, this is worth the purchase. Abathor, it's what's for gaming breakfast :-) Oh, to use your special item, just hit up and attack at the same time
