Abandoned Souls

Just about positive for the discounted price I paid. Normally love these atmospheric games that live or die on creating tension, such The Light Keeper and Grave Yard Shift . This starts quite positively - I like the general mood, sound design and the visual look. But the scares are not timed effectively/not effective. My character responds to something, but I've not seen it! The most annoying thing...Achievements! Constantly popping up at dramatic points, destroying any tension. I got 18 in 3 hours play. For those interested, it played okay on the Steam Deck.

Good atmospheric horror game. Not a ton of gameplay, but if you've played a JustTomcuk game before you know what you're in for.

This game was recommended to me multiple times, and even though I’d never heard of it, I finally caved and gave it a shot — and honestly? I’m glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised. The game has that creepy GoPro / found-footage vibe that makes everything feel way too real for comfort. You play as a vlogger who specializes in urban exploration, venturing into an abandoned hospital or mental facility… and from the start, the atmosphere just feels wrong. This game checks a LOT of boxes for me: Feeling like you’re being watched or followed Unexplained noises that make you stop in your tracks Red lighting that instantly raises your blood pressure That constant “I want OUT of here” feeling Everything felt grounded and realistic, which honestly made it way more unsettling than flashy over-the-top horror. Being an indie game, it’s on the shorter side — about 1 to 1.5 hours — but that was MORE than enough to scare the socks off me. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and it delivers solid tension the whole way through. 👉 Final verdict: If you’re looking for a solid, immersive horror experience with strong atmosphere and realistic scares, Abandoned Souls is absolutely worth your time. Definitely recommend.
