About
v0.5.1 FINAL VERSION (10/17/2025):
Game content is complete
More major and minor bug fixes
Added more content to later levels
Small Rebalances
If you play the Demo, the Full Version of the game starts wherever you left off.
A Happy Place does not support keyboard controls; a controller of some kind is required! I would suggest trying out the demo before buying to ensure that A Happy Place works on your system and with your chosen controllers. Keyboard-and-Mouse may be possible to use with Steam Input.
May perform worse on Steam Deck.
A Happy Place's full version has roughly 6 to 8 hours of gameplay.
A Happy Place has been a great experience for many players, and I hope you'll enjoy playing.

while getting buttmad over a secret level I accidentally walked into and couldn’t figure out how to leave I accidentally clipped through a wall after a scuffed jump and found a secret level in the secret level. With so many games out there now trying to replicate the experience of being the protagonist of a gaming creepypasta that moments about the closest I’ve ever felt to being in that position. This game’s so cool and everybody should know it
I've played throught the game 3 times (once on my steam deck) I would recommend this game ESPECIALLY if you love 3D platformers. The environment feels exactly like an N64 game, its very faithful. The collecting is so much fun and the movement is perfect. The only problems I have with the game is the performance. (I think) because of the engine it's made in it wasnt really built to handle 3D games like this??? So some levels if you play it for too long the frames drop drastically (on my pc and steam deck, although steam deck it is a little bit worse). I gifted the game to a friend that loves SM64 and it skipped one of the first cutscenes which kinda tainted his experience (although thinking aboout it now he may have accidentally skipped it???). Loading times are quite long on steam deck and first time I played I thought it froze and closed the game so I also ended up skipping a cutscene. The performance dropping at times didnt stop me from playing the game though, like I said before the game is authentic to the N64 era and just really fun to play. TLDR: has performance issues at times but if you can ignore that and keep chugging along the game is incredibly fun and authentic to N64 platformers.

good game. really captures the spirit of old school 3d platformers.
its good, kinda jank, but GOOD!.
Before I start with the positives, let me get a few things out that so far have been a little annoying. The loading times are quite long, and sometimes upon level entry I am met with a white or black screen, meaning I have to reboot the entire game. The audio as well is extremely quiet, and I don't see a way to change that. Other than those small issues, I have to say wow, this is quite the fun game. Don't let the artstyle fool you into thinking this is a "My First Game" Because there is certainly more to it than meets the eye. The gameplay is very smooth, feels like a really good 3d platformer. I found the story and world building to be quite unique and an interesting take on these types of games as well, everything makes sense in-universe and has a reason for existing. It lead to my imagination running amok, thinking about what the next big segment was going to pull on me. And I am nowhere close to done either, i'd say i'm only halfway through even 6 hours in, another benefit to the game. And like, come on it's only 10$ just support the dev that put passion into this project!
