About
Entities known as The Originals have lived for centuries, granted time, granted power, and the freedom to abuse both. That power is now owed.
Noa Brooklyn was born The Collector, raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she did not choose: taking that power back.
Explore a handcrafted Amsterdam by day. At night, uncover what lies beneath its surface. Every facade carries a gablestone. Not all of them tell the truth.
The Originals walk among Amsterdam’s citizens, hidden behind human faces. Identify them. Mark them. When the Esbat comes, confront them in their true form under the moon. Collect what is owed.
Noa commands witchcraft and spellcasting passed down through generations of Zaindaris. Each target can be approached in multiple ways. Strategy, timing, and choice define the outcome. Every Esbat is a reckoning.
Noa is not alone. Aaron, summoned from 1999, now sees the world through the eyes of a cat. Together, they are one: Switch between Noa and Aaron across two radically different playstyles. One wields witchcraft. The other has four paws and flair.

the Lux/Nux System and the Combat is imo a wee bit clunky and there are some minor issues with collision or camera positions .. but overall the unspent setting, the 'i dont know what really is going on' Story right now works for me just fine .. i am looking excitedly in the future of this game
For people who favour narrative-focused games, there's a lot to enjoy here. The setup is really interesting, and the witchy aesthetic is wonderful. It's very dark fantasy, and has notes of Plague Tale, Vampyr and a bit of the Witcher in it's DNA. The love poured into the story and setting is enough for me to overlook the expected indie jank in the gameplay. Plus, every game is substantially improved by the presence of a cat companion. <3 The combat, however, lets it down quite a lot and desperately needs some work. It's very clunky and sometimes unresponsive, and being forced to defeat waves of enemies in rounds is outdated design and simply not very fun, especially when combined with the aforementioned issue of clunkiness. If this area is improved over the course of early access, it's an easy recommend from me.
At first, I was honestly quite hesitant to buy Amsterdam 1666 because I saw a lot of negative reviews. I completely understand why some people might be discouraged by them, especially since the game is still in Early Access and there are definitely bugs and rough edges. However, after playing my first 5 hours, I have to say that I'm really enjoying the game. Yes, there are bugs, and yes, there is currently not a huge amount of content (around 15 hours of gameplay at the moment, depending on how you play). But personally, I don't think that automatically makes the game bad. It's Early Access, and I can already see the potential behind it. What I especially appreciate is that the developers actually seem interested in listening to their players. They asked the community for suggestions and feedback on what could be improved, which gives me hope that the game will continue to grow and get better over time. The atmosphere and the overall concept really clicked with me, and after only five hours I already find myself wanting to keep playing and see where the game goes. If you're looking at the negative reviews and wondering whether the game is worth trying, I'd say: keep in mind that this is Early Access. Don't expect a completely finished and polished game yet. If you're okay with some bugs and limited content while the developers continue working on it, I think Amsterdam 1666 is definitely worth giving a chance. I'm looking forward to seeing how much the game improves during Early Access.
1666: Amsterdam has a lot of potential, but in its current Early Access state I find it difficult to recommend at €29.99. The game is heavily focused on narrative and atmosphere, and that is probably where it works best. Amsterdam itself is very well recreated and visually the game looks quite good overall. The city has a strong atmosphere and the setting is easily one of its biggest strengths. Performance, however, becomes more problematic as you progress. During the opening sections, which mostly take place at night, I didn’t notice any major issues. Once the game moves into the daytime sections, particularly when playing as the witch and reaching the harvester sequence and the areas that follow, the performance problems become much more noticeable. In my case, the issue isn’t really low FPS, but inconsistent frame times and poor frame pacing. The framerate can be high while the game still feels uneven, with noticeable frametime spikes and occasional stuttering. On a high-end PC this is manageable, but I can imagine it being considerably more noticeable on mid-range hardware. The combat is currently the weakest part of the game. It feels very clunky and basic, and the camera makes encounters more frustrating than they should be. There isn’t a good targeting/lock-on system, so you constantly have to manually rotate the camera while fighting, which becomes messy when several enemies are involved. The combat itself is also quite simplistic. That said, this is Early Access, and there is clearly a good game underneath all of these issues. The narrative focus, atmosphere, visual design and recreation of Amsterdam give it a strong foundation. With better optimization, improved frame pacing, a more responsive combat system and better camera/targeting controls, I think it could become a very good experience. For now, though, I personally wouldn’t recommend paying €29.99 for it. It still feels too unfinished for that price. I would either wait for further updates or pick it up at a lower price. There is definitely potential here — it just needs more time.
Klar, Künstler sind was besseres.
