For centuries the Protectorate have been the stalwart defenders of humanity’s ventures through the Orion Arm, guarding against enemies foreign and domestic of the United Earth Spheres. As humanity’s galactic infrastructure teeters on the brink of collapse over a deficit of the resource “flux,” the Protectorate brings honed tactics and heavy firepower to bear. As external powers dive deeper into exploiting flux for faster than light travel, the once passive Grell have begun to flood across worlds, wiping out those who would threaten their biosphere. Expand your blooms by spreading the roots of your biomass across the battlefield, and rip apart your enemies with twisted evolutions from the acidic Harbinger to the rampaging Reaver.

For Purpose. For Survival.
The Xol are civilization of autonomous robotic consciousness, brought to the brink of extinction by the dark crusade of the Legion. Though fiercely individualistic, they are united by one imperative: survival. One of the better RTS games I've tried recently! Galactic War co-op mode has huge potential and is really fun. Definitely try it if you like RTS games
Easiest refund of my life. Especially for this bonkers price tag which is genuinely insane for what is offered, compared to what is out there on steam. First the state of the game - buggy, messy, showstoppers, clipping, pop-ins, hideous textures, artists have no understanding of shaders, lighting, roughness maps or composition. Should be called ZeroTaste instead. UI is extremely undercooked, icon packs for a few bucks would be better than SNES icons you have (at least those had heart and soul in them). I have played RTS since the 90s and a lot of things are simply unintuitive. This is not "innovation" or "a new way to do it" - this is just broken and not thought out at all. Performance is extremely variable. A 4080 should not be struggling to hit 60 FPS but you can easily dip into 20-30. The story is completely nonsensical, it is obvious that this is their first project with zero writing experience. Lore and expositional dumps straight away, they assume you care about the world and its characters but they give you no reason to care. I do not care that Kris smug Baldie comedic relief is dying, the tearjerker does not work, it is an unlikeable character and no amount of "setup" will change that. The game has a massive identity crisis because it very obviously and blatantly mashes together Mass Effect and Starcraft. It tries the same methods without having a modicum of understanding why these methods worked in the first place. You are not Chris Metze and you are not Drew Karpyshyn, you cannot expect us to care for a bland, dry world with random one-liners and dialogue. A lot of dialogue options are trying so hard to be deep and profound that you might as well die from cringe. They try to be all philosophical and create the illusion of choice when in reality there is literally nothing behind it. None of the choices matter, none of the dialogues go anywhere whatsoever. It feels like they legitimately made these one-liners to snip them out so that they can put them in the trailer. There is literally no depth behind it. I could go on but then I would end up writing more and putting in more thought into this review than there was thought put into writing this so called narrative. I find it sad that so many years, 3M$ and failed kickstarter promises led to all of this, because of the sheer arrogance and hubris of the devs. This is most certainly not worth your time, the player numbers are not looking good, to put it mildly, especially when you remember that a lot of the CCUs actually come from people who bought the game 3 years ago via Kickstarter - those are not even organic buyers. It has no legs and will not survive. Unfortunate because there was a sliver of hope that maybe RTS could get a new champion but this is not even a grunt. One might think "oh, give them time, it will get better, let them cook" but there is nothing to cook with, no pan, no meat, the bones are more brittle than Jokers. They will not magically change their MO and actually become professionals just because they got a little bit of money (which is really not much, looking at the numbers, it will never get RoI). Basically if you are looking for a buggy mashup of ME + SC from temu who themselves are reselling from ali, then this might be for you. DoA.

If you're a fan of RTS games, especially Starcraft 2, then you should definitely check out Zerospace. It's not a AAA game but that's okay, it gets the important stuff right and I'm sure the wrinkles will be ironed out throughout Early Access. I've had a great time playing so far and really enjoyed the unit designs and 1v1 gameplay.
I haven't played it much, but I have to admit it's a game with huge potential. It's already really fun to play, and there are plenty of game modes to choose from. Of course, it still needs a lot of work, but I think it's one of those good Early Access titles worth supporting.
Despite bugs and clearly missing features, what is already there during Early Access is really good and shows that the devs "get it". I am soooo looking forward to full release and what they add to make this the best RTS released since StarCraft 2. Wardi (the biggest StarCraft 2 community tournament organiser) announced he will be hosting weekly open tournaments for the foreseeable future, so the foundation for success is there. Highly recommend to give it a try and support the project
Barebones UI, unskippable tutorial treats you like a toddler, crashes every 5 minutes like clockwork, zero optimization. Oh, and this gem costs like $36. Avoid!
I rarely refund games, even if I don't like them, but this is one of them. I like WASD controls for my RTS games that require you to also use a mouse and other keys around WASD. I tried to rebind these keys, and it was a disaster. There are WELL OVER 100 different bindable actions, all of which are bound by default, down to a specific unit action. For example, my W key was bound to a build option for like 8+ different buildings. That means I have to scroll through EVERY SINGLE HOTKEY and unbind everything from WASD just to get WASD to work. That was already the worst RTS experience I've had in years. There is a button to let you see conflicting keybinds, but it doesn't even show them all so you're still forced to scroll through the list. I also though believe that this game is using computer generated slop ("art") for certain in-game portraits in menus, which is not disclosed with an "AI Disclaimer", which could get this taken down by Steam :/
I hate to write this review and I will change it to a positive if it gets addressed. I'm one of the first kickstarter backers who wanted to see this project come into fruition. The designers and advisors for the gameplay gave big promises, and it's good that many esport people were involved in the balancing designs etc. However, I have to give this a negative review because as I'm sure esport player will tell you, frame stuttering or inconsistent latency is an absolute game killer. I have a RT 7900 XTX as team green prices are absolutely wild nowadays. On most games the RX 7900 XTX is on par with team green's RTX 4080-5080 series, and the 7900 XTX is the strongest card team red has to offer right now. Even with this GPU (don't blame the CPU, it's a ryzen 7 9800X3d), the game does not run above 30 FPS on highest setting, and even on low setting its at around 40 FPS dipping to 20 at random moments. The change in FPS also causes micro stuttering in game and even on menu clicks. I cannot speak for Nvidia based system, but for my setup this game is currently unplayable. Therefore it's a big thumbs down as I can't even get to rate the gameplay.
Good enough that you won’t get your money back, bad enough that you won’t play it for more than a few hours. At least for now. Oh boy, I’ve got mixed feelings about this game. The graphics look good, the gameplay feels solid, the story isn’t badly written at all, and the variety of units is fun. The game really does have the potential to be good. But the downsides. I’ve rarely come across a game that could actually be so good and is genuinely fun, yet still has so many unspeakable bugs. Where to start? There are minor graphical glitches here and there (for example, when units are moving, the assets for destroyed units are sometimes displayed), but what really stands out – especially in the campaign and during cutscenes – is the lack of sound. Not glitches; it’s completely missing. At times, I found myself wondering if there was something wrong with my headphones, because a sound would play intermittently and then stop again. The AI is very passive in many places, even on ‘Hard’. When it comes to balancing, you can tell the game was originally designed with the campaign in mind. As soon as you have the Protectorate’s higher-tier units, you can simply steamroll over the enemy. The economy in the game is really oversimplified. On the one hand, it’s fun to be able to focus mainly on the combat aspect, but for a good RTS, this component is really missing here to open up another strategic layer. You could point out plenty more minor glitches, but the game is, after all, in Early Access. And that, quite simply, is the biggest outrage here. €40 – full price for an alpha version? The game isn’t even close to being finished and is a far cry from what was originally intended as Early Access. I’m curious to see how this game develops. At the moment, I’d advise against buying it for €40. You can buy the game for €20 once a few patches have been released. Then you’ll have a decent RTS with good graphics, which can be fun from time to time. However, I reckon the game’s main strength will lie in the campaign later on. I hope this helps some of you decide whether to buy the game. TL;DR: The game isn’t bad, but it’s simply not finished. Save yourself the €40.
