Z-Exemplar

Great game in the in Sinclair ZX Spectrum style. Lot's of references that only those who were there back in the day will get. My only complaint is that I wish I could reduce the volume of the sound effects so I could hear the music.

You may be a bit baffled by what makes this game special if you never had a ZX-Spectrum, or you had but never played R-Type on it. If you loved the ZX version of R-Type, this is definitely the game for you. The original was a little programming miracle, and one of the best arcade ports on the Speccy; this game is structured differently, but is clearly a love letter to that game. If you have no familiarity with the original its still a solid little retro style left-right shooter. You might have a little trouble with the movement of the ship, but there's a couple of options for that. The difficulty can be a bit old school, but the levels are fairly short, bite-sized chunks of gameplay. I am only a few hours in but love the style of it even though I suck at it. Without the nostalgia factor you may not see its value as easily, but its a little gem of a game.

Shooter old school giocabilissimo, programmato con un evidente amore per l'era 8-Bit e per lo ZX Spectrum in particolare. Consigliatissimo per gli amanti del genere e per i nostalgici.

First off, thanks to the developer for this great flashback! The game also hit the side scroll shooter nail on the head, everything you expect to be there is in its place. In addition to that the game offers a rich upgrade system and progression campain. I would have paid much more then i actually did just for the attention to detail this game offer. It's at least 25 years since i laughed my ass off when a box/enemy suddenly appeared right inside me. :)

Previously, en Manqueando... "Tower Hunter: Erza's Trial" que estaba muy mal traducido, pero me gustó. Y hoy, en Manqueando... "Z-Exemplar" Allá cuando tenia 11 años, fui a casa de unos amigos de mis padres. Esto, de por si era un peñazo, ya que ni podia ver la tele, ni leer, ni hacer nada. Pero aquella vez hubo algo diferente. Los hijos de aquel matrimonio tenian un ordenador, y al final acabé en la habitación de ellos con lo que sólo podia describirse como un ataque de euforia incontrolable. Los tios en cuestión tenian un Amstrad cpc6128. Y me dieron una de las mejores tardes de mi vida. 2 años y medio más tarde, tras muchas chapas, lloros, suplicas, chantajes y sabe Dios cuantas peripecias más, al final conseguí mi Spectrum 128k +2A (mis amigos no tenian amstrad). Y ahí fue cuando empezó mi vida de verdad. Y héte aqui, más de 30 años despues, con un juego que revive aquellos momentos. Un mata-mata que se nota que bebe de Gradius, R-Type, Zynaps, Z-Out, y tantos y tantos juegos de naves. Técnicamente... joer, parece spectrum, de modo que si aquella maravillosa máquina no os dice nada... no os interesará, posiblemente. El control es correcto, mejor que el de un spectrum, obviamente. Aunque los masocas podrán elegir el control tipo ZX (debe ser terrible, pero entrañable a la vez). La dificultad es alta. Bastante alta. Como debe ser para un juego así. Donde más destaca el juego es en su duración, que despues de haber superado más de 40 niveles, creo que no llevo ni un 10%. De modo que a saber cuantos niveles hay, pero seguro que muchísimos. Y como suelen ser cortos (un par de minutos), pues a lo tonto, se te pasan las horas y ni te enteras. Un vicio, vamos. ¡¡¡Pero si hasta le puedes poner las típicas barras de carga del spectrum!!! ¿Se puede ser más mono? En fin... sin mucho más que añadir, le voy a dar un 6, que es lo que creo merece. Pero el factor nostalgia le da muchos puntos (para mi). Y si, lo recomiendo, sobre todo si fuiste miembro de la horda spectrumera. Y en el próximo Manqueando... "Dark souls 3". Al final, voy a meterme en mi primer souls de verdad. A ver que tal se me da

Its a smashing little pick-up-and-play vertical shmup in the style of the ZX Spectrum. I'm old enough to have played an awful lot of shoot 'em ups on the speccy such as Nemesis, Flying Shark, Xevious and R-Type (which ranged from Nemesis - awful to R-Type - incredible) back in the days when I had hair, but none are as colourful, varied, or as forgiving as this. But then, this is a lot larger than 48KB. It's a love letter to my youth. Great stuff. And thank you.
