Not much depth, *certainly* not much realism, but you can still get a good time out of it. Every country starts at the same level of diplomatic relations and internal politics do not exist (though there are 8 policies that can be switched on and off which apply buffs and debuffs, so yes, technically laws, but you know what I mean). There is an absence of realistic economics and you essentially build more to earn more, The virus doesn't spread like an actual disease, instead there are these things called "infectors" which appear on the map and move towards cities, they can be stopped by moving an army of any size onto them. Combat is just moving two armies onto each other and a winner being decided over the next few days or so by numbers and accumulated buffs. You don't simply build on the map, you create units with production called "builders" then you build the structure you want (which are quite limited in number, though they all have a distinct purpose. You win by researching the vaccine which keeps your people from being infected (I think?) but doesn't do anything for the rest of the world, and you can't give it to other nations either, so it really is just an incentive to finish the tech tree (and a win for the sake of it, of course). If none of this bothers, or on the opposite end, you are looking for a far more causal strategic experience, I'm sure you can enjoy it, I've had my fun out of it. I do recommend you get it on sale, however, and updates are non-existent.
