I played 10 seconds of the game, quit right away because i didnt think it would be for me, 5 seconds later i decided whats the harm in giving it 5/10 minutes of play time, those 5/10 minutes turned into about about 10 hours of gaming. Some of the reviews i semi agree with, that being it would be nice to have a tutorial, whether that be a few skills in 1 tutorial, (e.g how to mine then how to smelt it) (e.g attack then defence) ect ect. I am now 700 hours into the game, i've played just about everyday since starting and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE the game! people saying its only a days worth content or you can complete the game in a day are full of it! (depending on your definition of completing the game) for me completing it means maxing out all skills to level 100. Goodluck doing that. Now this game only has 2 developers and they work their asses off to push content out for this game, all the hate saying "the devs dont care, they arent around, money grab" because of a membership update, the servers dont pay for themselfs... there is plenty of content still to come, theres a road map, PVP updates, new skills, new weapons new bosses, guilds, raids, just to name a few. All these things will take time when there is only 2 developers. That being said, even if there wasnt a membership and the new areas that came out, im sorry to break it to you, but you wouldnt be able to do them in a day anyway, theres plenty to do as a F2P player before even thinking about membership. if you loved runescape, you will probably love this too, just dont go into the game expecting it to be runescape, yes you will be confused at first but there are plenty of people who will help you, when i started i had no help and i found my way around just fine, its very easy to pick up and VERY addicting. Plus theres fishing, who doesnt love to fish? i give this game a 10/10 all day everyday.

Game needs a lot of work, so much so that a subscription shouldn't exist. Avoid.
no instructions or tutorial in the start no directions or anything and it plays awfully bad in my 8GB RAM laptop, still the game has potential
Trash
Some of the art is quite nice, lots of it is pretty ugly. The lighting is really horrible, making it quite difficult to see in a lot of scenarios (notably during the day.) The world is very small, and despite that is quite empty. There are some potentially interesting system concepts demonstrated here, interacting with which is burdened by some awful netcode making pretty much every interaction feel clunky on its surface - and if that wasn't enough, the control scheme in general is just roughly implemented. Seems like a passion project by a runescape fan, maybe a beginners programming project, that could have been built in a weekend, and definitely should not be charging $5 a month for 'membership' fees to play it right now. Clearly more work than that has been put into this project, I am being a bit facetious, but ultimately for the value delivered to the player this might as well be true. Utterly uncompelling. Needs a huge amount of work.
The game is alright alittle rough around the edges that could be fine tuned as it is a newer game, generally like a 7/10 game but it is heavy pay to win and buying a membership makes you expentionally stronger than someone without it. i agree that supporting the creators of a game is important and necessary to keep a game running but to make a free to play option with almost nothing to do past a certain point is wild. you want to level up fishing late game, good luck farming elder trout for a billion minutes instead of going to farm carp (a membership fish), you want to train any of your combat stats good luck farming level 27 skeletons or the small amount of bosses. I truely believe that if the game was less membership focused and instead more on the general game, it would benefit this game tremendously. might eventually change this review though because the game isn't bad as long as you're willing to spend $5.99 usd a month or are just starting

This game is in early phase but offers some fun things to do, right now subscription is 5$ a month, which is totally fine. Also it works fine on Linux.
MMO's are my favorite style of game, and Winds of Valen really scratches an itch for me. It is a small game with frequent updates to add content to the game. I personally loved that you could figure the game out for yourself and leveling up one skill leads to you another skill. There were no quests up until the membership update, which I personally preferred, as quests are my least favorite content in an MMO. A couple points that I feel other reviews have not touched on: - The amount of playtime to reach "completion" heavily depends on your definition of completion. If you enjoy the grind of getting high levels, you can easily put hundreds of hours into this game. If you don't enjoy that level of grind and only want to go until you've unlocked everything, this game is still new and growing. The devs have a roadmap in the discord of what they intend to add to the game, but you might be disappointed by the amount of content in the game as of right now. - The people who play the game regularly highly requested a way to monetarily support the game, and as a response the devs created a membership subscription. All of the content prior to the subscription was left f2p, which allows you to explore the game and level up decently high before needing to pay $5 a month, if you decide you want to do so.
