This game is worth the price of admission based on aesthetics alone. I'm not generally a big fan of the painterly texturing style that you see in this game and other games like World of Warcraft, but they nailed it here, and the particular blend of fantasy, sci-fi and oilpunk elements they've struck upon is very compelling. The environments are packed full of things to see and do, and you're encouraged to use platforming skill in order to find hidden treasures. It drives me to explore every nook and cranny, and I've been having a blast doing it. Combat is fun and fast-paced, especially on Nightmare difficulty, which is by no means overwhelmingly difficult but it absolutely forces you to use all of your tools. Rewards are copious, and as you move up through the earlier levels, new elements are introduced which add new depth to buildcraft. I was honestly surprised and impressed to see the additional layers continue to appear, because I just assumed I had seen everything after a certain point. The story (so far) is serviceable. The dialogue and quest writing are good enough to facilitate the meat of the game, exploration and combat. It's possible that I will come to love the inhabitants of Skylight, but in terms of characterization they feel like they could be placed into a variety of other games and no one would notice. As far as I'm concerned, that's totally fine in this case, because I still very much want to see what's over the next hill. I think it's important to remember that this game originally used a live-service model, which didn't go well at all, and it was taken offline to remove the live-service elements, eventually returning in its current state. This is to say that the game is suffering from an undeserved Mixed score, and I think the more recent positive reviews are far more accurate in describing the game as it is in 2026. I'm leaving this review to add to that chorus because I think the game deserves it. At the price I paid, I almost feel like I robbed the developers. This feels like a very high-quality effort which warrants more love and attention from players. The only real criticisms/requests I can make are related to UI and performance. I'd really love to be able to scale and/or hide certain elements of the HUD, including damage numbers. They can get in the way and distract from more important things like attack telegraphs. I'd also like to see the game further optimized since I'm seeing frequent hitching at max settings on a 5070Ti, something I never really see in other games, though I should note that I'm running the game in Bazzite through Proton, which my be contributing to this issue. I also really wish controller input chording in custom input settings didn't still activate the single button input, because the entire point of chording is that this doesn't happen. But yeah, really enjoying Wayfinder so far. If I had to sum up the game in a single sentence, I might liken it to the Arcane-coded lovechild of World of Warcraft and Borderlands, in all the right ways. Good stuff.
.
Took just a little bit to unlock all abilities and the other characters, but feels well worth it - the gameplay is in a nice flow and the combat feels pretty awesome!
well made game. nothing to really complain about. I think the game could either run a little better or have more scalability. theres a few weird things about the graphics settings. post processing is directly tied to AA so if you disable post processing you dont get AA even though it doesnt grey the options for it out like it does with post processing. the shadow setting dictates fake light sources like the street lamps which have nothing to do with a shadow but its just their transparent glow sprite thing that pops in way too close even at ultra so trying to fix pop in is impossible in relation to certain objects. I like the shadows but they are inconsistent and rare so I just turned them off entirely. any anti aliasing setting below high makes the game look terrible when using FSR which isnt the case in a ton of other UE games featuring fsr and AA, no choice of AA also. for as meh and unsatisfying as the options menu is, there really is no compromise on the presentation of the world and its scale. I was worried starting out that this game would just be some small hub and you rinse repeat this purple cramped hallways grind repeatedly but no its a legit RPG with unique areas and enemies often not hidden behind a load screen, you walk out of town and into the field of battle proper. props for having pretty accurate hardware requirements listed. its hard to imagine this running on the minimum amd card listed because I think that has 4gb vram, so you would be running this at like 720p all lowest with fsr ultra performance just to slip under the vram requirement. I messed with the settings for a while and even with 6gb vram it still feels like it isnt enough as you start getting deeper into the world which is expansive. I think more work could have been done with culling objects, lod and more objects hidden at lower view distance settings. with how aggressive some of the pop in is that you cant even control its a shame so much is displayed from so far no matter what the setting. meanwhile on higher settings i walk a few feet away from some guy and the position of his collar shifts drastically almost appearing like different clothing. minor pains in an other wise uncompromising and deep experience with a best of outcome in terms of development history. even if you dont care for the game or think it sucks but have a hardon for game preservation or are stuck on that crazy euro movement that demands no one can make a video game with a finite lifespan, ultimately limiting creativity and possibilities then feel free to show your support here. went from sketchy uncertain liveservice thing to complete control in your hands fully offline mod it whatever. and for like 4 bucks it was difficult to not give it a spin. I will probly be playing for at least 100 hours I reckon but these are just my thoughts at like an hour into the game
Got it on a sale and it's much better than I assumed from reading comments.

only a few hours in but i will say i wish i had found this game sooner. it kind of reminds me of a WoW themed Destiny but also not quite. it's also surprisingly well optimized considering im running it on medium with a RX 6550m and 16gb ram. would definitely recommend this game, especially on sale. will update review as needed when i obtain more hours played.
