Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 15.43/day in the week to Sep 8 → 20/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I played this game on EA quite a bit, it had potential. Some years later I came to give it another try now that it's been ages since it released, but after investigating a bit about the sheer amount of DLC and QoL behind them made me not even start the installation process, kinda sad.
TL;DR: Do I recommend it? Not at its base price. Just not worth it. This may change if they add more updates for the game itself than they do with their DLCs which you will understand why it's reviewed with mostly negative comments. It’s a solid adventure game that can easily pull you in for hours of gameplay. That said, Shiro Games keeps releasing overpriced DLCs that you’ll soon learn to hate. Too much great content is locked behind a paywall, especially compared to other titles that focus on polishing the main game, adding meaningful free updates, and offering optional cosmetic or supporter packs that aren’t integral to the experience. Still, you can see the devs’ dedication to improving QoL and optimizing the core game, which makes you want to support them--though that goodwill doesn’t quite extend to Wartales. We'll see, I suggest going for the main game on a sale and review the DLC's carefully before wasting your good earned money you can purchase other great games or content with.

Matched by title — a reused name can pair the wrong games. * is a critic aggregate. Prices and positions are each store's United States storefront; Epic charts worldwide. Audience and Score too, except Steam's, which is worldwide.

Used to love this game and played for many 100s of hours. Predatory DLC practices ruined it though.
The Skelmar Expansion came out 2 Years ago, still there are bugs that make it unplayable. For example im currently at a bossfight where i cant use certain characters like the swordsman, because anytime i use their abilities the game freezes. INSTEAD OF BRINGING OUT NEW 20 EURO DLCs MAYBE U SHOULD START TO FIX THE ONES YOU ARE ALREADY SELLING FOR 20 EUROS. I enjoy the game a lot but this makes it unplayable and im really mad.
They refuse to open the WORKSHOP to easily mod on steam. Garbage company forces DEI dalit "diversity" and makes every play a grind. Do not purchase.
This game is so fun and I would recommend it to anyone if it wasn't for the fact the company is one of the most greedy dirty rat pens I have ever seen. All the DLCs that should just be free updates they sell for 5x the price they should be and rarely, if ever, put them on sale. Just sail the seas for this one, not worth dropping any money unless you REALLY want to pay almost $100 for a game that is worth $30.
I came to Wartales because it is constantly recommended to people who enjoy Battle Brothers, but after playing it, I think that comparison is misleading. What makes Battle Brothers work is that its complexity exists underneath a relatively intuitive gameplay loop. You recruit mercenaries, take contracts, travel, fight, get paid, buy better equipment, and gradually turn a group of nobodies into experienced veterans. The game can be difficult, but understanding how to actually play it is rarely the difficult part. Wartales seems to take a similar concept and bury it under an unnecessarily complicated and poorly explained interface. Basic things like navigating the map, locating contract objectives, assigning professions, using the camp, and understanding the various progression systems require far more trial and error than they should. Instead of thinking about my mercenaries or becoming immersed in their journey, I constantly found myself trying to figure out what menu I was supposed to open or what unexplained icon I was supposed to click. That is the biggest difference for me. Battle Brothers makes me think about surviving the world. Wartales made me think about operating Wartales. There may be a deep tactical game underneath all of this, and I understand why people who overcome the learning curve enjoy it. But complexity and unintuitive design are not the same thing. I spent more time fighting the UI than fighting enemies, and that completely killed the immersion for me.
