In the near future, humanity faces an aggressive biomechanical civilization determined to consume all forms of life. Frontier planets turn into battlegrounds where war cyborgs, heavy machinery, and bio-engineered beasts clash for every meter of territory.
Players take the role of commanders who can both lead armies from above and personally enter the fight by controlling hero-units in real time. Your mission is to hold the invasion, build your defenses, and turn the tide of the conflict across large-scale ground and space operations.
Worlds fall. Armies evolve. The future is decided in WARSHIFT 2.
WARSHIFT 2 is a sequel to the original WARSHIFT game, that is developed entirely by a solo developer - Cyril Megem, who is both game designer, artist and programmer in this project. He worked hard for many years to implement a lot of his and the game community's ideas.

A very tepid recommend. It's got some fun gameplay and unique twists compared to other modern RTS games. But it's got some jank and a slow introduction followed by brutal difficulty spike that it does not prepare you for. The main gimmick is that you control a hero unit in 3rd person combat. What units you can spawn depends on your level, so you're heavily encouraged to engage as often as you can. Respawns are free and short. Once you get some upgrades going you become an absolute menace on the field and can easily turn the tide of battle on your own. The campaign railroads you on what heroes you can pick, although it does seem to cover them all. Buildings that produce units can be set to "auto" where it'll field squads that automatically travel down a lane to fight the enemy, similar to MOBAS. The units deploy much slower than if you manually que and control the units yourself, although that can be tricky to juggle if you're controlling your hero. There's some gripes however. For whatever reason the game hitches whenever the music track changes which is bizarre. Movement in 3rd person just stops working with keyboard and mouse if a controller is plugged in. You can't rally air units from the Ark if it's flying, or if you can it's not ever explained. Carriers aren't selected with the rest of your military units. Air units wander and have a huge aggro range so they'll suddenly fly off and right into the enemy base getting themselves killed. Buildings, especially for the dreadnoughts, are stupid and I hate it. Buildings are prebuilt, and instantly deployed when they're all set to go. This leads to infuriating scenarios where the enemy drops a dockyard right in front of your units, instantly recruits a dreadnought, and wipes out whatever force you had. There's no intercepting the building while it's being constructed to stop the ship from being dropped on you when you've otherwise have the upper hand. At least make it so the ship doesn't come with the dock and needs to be built like everything else. Then there's the difficulty spike and how slow the game is to introduce you to the meat of the game, and then when it does, it punches you square in the nose with absolutely no chill. So, including the tutorials, it takes 1-2 hours to finally get to the part where you properly build a base. Before that, the game holds your hand, tells you exactly what to do, there's very little thought or strategy and the AI basically doesn't exist. Then when you do get full control, the AI does not have difficulty settings. Not even in skirmish. So you go from having your hand held to getting drop-kicked by the fully enabled AI while you're building a base for the first time. So, very tepid recommend. I'm having fun, I'm sure I'll learn to handle the difficulty spike, but it's got jank and it takes a while for you to base build while the difficulty goes from 4 to 11. If you aren't interested in 3rd person fighting alongside troops marching down a lane, there are much better RTS games without the gimmicks. But if that sounds interesting to you, give it a go.

Seems very unpolished and gimmicky. It lags when the music changes tracks, the animations are pretty rough, there's a huge lack of quality of life especially for an RTS.. you can't attack move, or hold ground? Some units and buildings seem to just be locked on certain maps for whatever reason. Oh and the minimap straight up lies to you.. in an RTS game.
The game seems to have a ton of content, but unfortunately you're unable to access much of it due to basic features being non-functional like producing units, buildings, and giving certain orders to some units.
I really liked the concept of a RTS RPG but it was poorly done in this one the mini map is entirely incorrect in resource spawns, the AI support units spawn floating and don't assist your team if you start in the air in skirmish modes. Found out that the enemy starts on the ground anyways so your just handicapping yourself. Campaign was bland and just felt like I was back in the tutorial being hand held to do everything with no choose in how it gets done. Your main mech feels far inferior to the units you build meaning for doing more of the RTS section as you wait to respawn. Also there is no point to having a human and an alien tutorial as you don't learn anything new its the same tutorial with different skins just made to be repeated. and even the base construction is bad cause only you can take a energy zone but you don't keep it unless you stay near it or you build a structure. It's got potential but they'll need to really work on this game.
Did you play Air Mech?:) its Air Mech with more RTs Not bad at all, you control a Mech( you can chose 1 out of 10 or so, there are also tanks) and also do base building. Some mechs can transform into aircraft or even submarines, there are 2 factions. You can play skirmish or campaign, i dont think there is multiplayer just yet. The mechs have a loadout and upgrade system. Pretty good concept, played here for a bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VVLddg6RhI The game has some limitations but it's fun to play in short sessions.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this game as it needs lots of polish. Game looks beautiful but the core, gameplay is flawed. The main drawbacks are in my opinion the following: - Noticeable performance drops once music changes - Zoom level on minimap is misaligned - Constant returning to Ark with every levelup becomes not a very fun thing - Tutorial missions are so short that they could be combined into 2-3 levels. One of the tutorial missions is just moving Ark to a different place and using an Orbital nuking, can be completed in 2 minutes. I did not have to use an Avatar at all. - Any small collisions in FPS mode should be possible to ignore. It's easy to get stuck in small obstacles However, I keep the fingers crossed for the game.
campaign isnt fun. just feels like extended tutorial where u have to do things one specific way. things get locked out and u cant beat missions the way you would want to. no real story element. probably going to refund. might get it again but i doubt it if it stays this boring.

Any news on Simplified Chinese? I’m super hyped for this title. I bought Game 1 ages ago, and it still has no Chinese translation.
