I was looking forward to this game for a couple months, but it just plays like a bad mobile port...

|Amaziung game, Unfinished and biggest problem (contrary to weird remarks about combat) is it's not actually a finished game, they did the combat and then put a bunch of sequential mini-fights and that's about it, as for the combat it's some of the best ever made because it differentiates between the materials you actually hit, i.e. metal (armor which gets blocked) or skin / body which your weapons goes through and damages, the combat might be slightly too slow but that isn't a big problem it's a welcome change from the ADHD (typically 'arpg') combat which you're one guy mowing through 1000s of enemies per second, I have no idea what games people are playing (who are downvoting this) or what their idea of a 'good' up-close 3rd person combat game is cause that game is NOT on steam, This game is 'great' and positive reviewed because it pushes the envelope on what games can do, how many games actually differentiate between the materials you hit? (In a 'real', satisfying and visually and animated way), Yeah, like ZERO, wtf are people doing and saying rating this down is beyond me, the game as a 'whole' though, because unfinished and unpolished, is lackluster and rightly 'not enough' to be overwhelmingly 'awesone or fun', but again that's not the point, the point is you support games like this cause they single-handedly show how lazy and narrow-minded other devs are for not putting in combat systems like this - if this "bad" (mixed rated) game can do it, what the heck is stopping all the other games from doing it? Some reviewer had the audacity to say 'other games have done this', again, what various chemicals are people like this ingesting? What games? Star Wars Jedi Knights 234? With a 500 Billion Dollar budget? People can be terrible reviewers taking certain exceptions for games that are literally movie budget productions and comparing them to indie devs who do things even better but because of 'bad voice acting' they completely ignore the ground-breaking achievements done in the game(s) This game is awesome, ALL other devs should be following this game's design principles, instituting material based hit physics, having such incredible follow-through and hit feedback, YES it might be a bit slow but that's mostly because of the trash garbage people play nowadays that has no thinking in it's combat and too much spastic button-mashing, How come nobody mentioned this is basically the same 'speed' as Dark Souls? And everyone praises Dark Souls yet for some reason this, which has 1000X better 'hitting and feeling' combat, gets trashed in reviews, The combat isn't perfect by any means, the biggest (real) problem is it's hard to gauge the distance on enemies, that can be frustrating and because the hits 'follow through' so solidly (hence making it seem 'slow') I can imagine people are getting mad about that and pinning it on the speed of combat Yes, it could've been sped up a notch but I'm stressing the hypocrisy of reviewers because they completely ignore the speed of games like Dark Souls and try to compare this to twitchy anime / arpg style games, which of course would make this seem extremely slow, also note I'm experience in Severance: Blade of Darkness, which is another 'slow and awkward' game but once you get the hang of it is one of the _Best_ hack and slash games ever made (far superior to 'Dark Souls') anyways, bottom line - absolutely Ground-Breaking Combat that redefines how gaming should be, this game makes you realize how trash and lazy most devs are, constantly making games where there is no actual 'hit-feedback', material type detection, etc Most game devs are lazy and making games for money, this game proves and shows that clearly, if such a 'bad' and low budget game like this did such an incredible job with the combat (other than possibly being 'too slow', which is an inane remark considering how Amazing everything else about the combat is), then what's stopping all the other properly funded and loaded companies from doing it? (including all the self-proclaimed 'indie' companies that have millions of dollars in budget) The only legitimate reason to down-vote this game is to say it's not actually finished as a game, it's just a bunch of combat mini-zones slapped together randomly, this game basically feels and probably is a 'test demo' for the combat, but the combat is so incredible (and the price was low) that it should've been rated UP by any sane person, typical low-class gamers rating gold low and yet constantly buying repetitive redundant 2-D Trash Platformers (Another Cute little Glowy Thing Jumping Around on Platforms Gayme !!111 YaayayyayyYYyYYHHHH !!!! UPVOTE UPVOTE UPVTOE ) high as if they're adding something to the Human Condition (Spoiler - yet another trash 2d platformer isn't..) What else is there to say, people should be discerning about the games they buy and I hope these devs come back and make a 'full' game to get some credit for the awesome combat system they put into this game, shame on everyone they don't hold the standard of combat (speed being something easily changed and not worth complaining about) in this game as the standard all other games should be held at It can't be stressed enough - no reviewer yet has mentioned how amazing the 'feel', follow-through and hit feedback of the combat is in this game, from the limbs getting chopped at the exact point of contact, to the 'bounce-back' of your sword when it hits metal (as opposed to skin which it 'tears through'), etc etc This is probably the biggest problem in gaming (almost ALL games regardless of budget have NO or very LITTLE 'follow-through', hit feedback and actual 'contact' with materials) in games, this game almost completely nailed the whole combat thing and to see people completely ignoring it is beyond belief..
full review: https://youtu.be/ZtPLtAHbStg Its had to give this any review but I am leaning in recommend. I wish there was neutral option, because it has its faults, its issues and glitches, but for some reason I have fun playing the game. Yes its slow in the combat but I don’t think that was done unintentionally, it gives difficulty to the game even though its not much. Everyone wants a fast paced arena game and this is not that. Now glitches in the game that can kill you on a good run, or unable to complete an area to progress because the enemy had god knows what happen to it. That’s the thing that had me on the fence. Everything else about this game is really good, the skill tree, the graphics, and I love the enemy models they are so unique. However when I play it, it just feels off the mark. Missed what it was trying to aim at, but not too much just enough to be noticeable. But I can say this if you do decided to get Warlander I can say you wont be board of the game, you won’t be Impressed but you you won’t get board.
This game has a nice setting, some enemies and bosses look cool, the story is potentially interesting, the feature of being able to slice enemies in a lot of ways is fun. Personally, I don't like the structure of the game: the first run ends quite quickly and for the rest of the game all you have to do is go continuously to the final boss passing through the same environments, enemies, minibosses, etc. trying not to die. The huge problem, as you may have noticed, is that the game was quickly abandoned and removed from Steam without giving much explanation to the community. Those who have the "luck" to play it have a buggy game (some achievements don't work and sometimes you can't continue after killing a miniboss) and it becomes boring after a while.
My review on Warlander published on KeenGamer: https://www.keengamer.com/articles/reviews/pc-reviews/warlander-review-path-to-revenge-pc/
Impossible.
The controls are terrible and the character feels as if he is stuck in slow-motion. The story might be solid, but when the controls are so bad it really takes away from the experience. This game was on my Wishlist from the moment I saw it on Steam and I was really looking forward to this game. Please fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls!!! I really want to like this game but until it gets fixed I think people should just stay as far away as possible.
Randomly generated maps with hack and slash combat. Overall the combat is fun with the decapitation:slash your enemy in half from head to toe or side to side. Also you have to be strategic in selecting your level to get to the top. The downside is that you have to start over each time when you die and some of the maps are redundant like the arrow map that are just a transit to go up higher. The game has little health drops as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0npVAGSk2EU Game deserves a 6.5/10. PS: Playing with the xbox or any other controller is highly recommended.
A dlaczego? Dokładacie do niej różne funkcje, poziomy, historię. Ciekawe, prawda? A właśnie tak to wygląda w przypadku Warlandera. Goście po prostu nagle porzucili projekt. Z dnia na dzień. I tylko dlatego nie kupujcie tej gry. Za te dziwne decyzje. Gdyby gra była dalej rozwijana, poprawiana - byłaby mocnym średniakiem. A tak, to jest typowym abandonware.
