About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

I was expecting Warhounds to feel like the poor indie cousin of Zero Company. Instead I ended up thinking: Zero Company looks better and has a better story and dialogs for sure. Warhounds makes me think more.
This game is awesome. XCOM without the the aliens. When they say you can hire someone thats purple HIRE THEM! Kick out one of the NPCs on your team. The purple people have voice lines and interactions with the team. I can only play it on my good PC though. I hope they have a setting later where you can turn the graphics way down. Also I would like an option to give items to other teammates in combat. Like giving your explosives person an extra nade another teammate brought or an armor plate.

XCOM 2 is more polished. JA3 has more depth. Rogue Trader has about 700 times more RPG systems. No argument. But Warhounds has a really nice combat rhythm of its own. It's quicker, more straightforward and has some interesting decisions. I'm not looking for a replacement for those games. I just wanted another tactics game.
fun game just watch your expenses they roll fast
Alright, so I'm going to immediately recognize that my luck might just be crap, but what happened still happened and I had such a huge quit moment. First, the old XCOM thing of missing a 95% shot, except it happened three times within the same mission. I had to burn an entire turn to take out one shotgunner or he'd have shredded the whole squad. That was rough, but it was after I nearly killed my own guy on a 100% hit chance on an enemy next to him. I knew in advance that this game does friendly fire, and that's fine to have, but SOME indication that my boy is still going to get hit would be nice unless I just missed it. Last, and this is the one that broke me, I keep having my characters shoot out their own cover. I can understand getting lit up and the box my guy is hiding behind crumbles, that's fine, but when my dudes are shooting around that box and decide to shoot right through it, I lose a few marbles. All of that happened in the same mission, on the ship right after the first. While I don't hate the game, and I know luck had something to say about my experience, the cover thing is a dealbreaker. That frustrates me to no end especially when it's already a dice roll whether I hit or not anyway. As I only have a half hour played, I'll be asking for a return.
A very solid and fun take on TBT, with very polished mechanics and a unique modern setting which I've honestly sorely missed. With full voice acting and modern turn-based gameplay, this is actually an easy recommend from me, especially for fans looking for a new TBT experience that feels fresh and classic at the same time. And I just love kicking ass with my mercs y'know?
Game crashed on me a couple of times during the first missions. I decided not to refund because I was actually enjoying the gameplay and figured I'd give the devs a chance to fix it. Patch came out, played several more hours, zero crashes. That's pretty much all I wanted. Now keep polishing the rest of the game.
Idk where to start... This is a BAD game. Feels like bunch of teenagers making a videogame and decided it is great idea to put their little sister to do voice overs. My god... Julia. Seriously guys. If your characters doesn't have anything interesting to say, just use plain text. What I was thinking when purchasing this game? Mercenaries. So, lots of booze, drugs, cigarettes, ♥♥♥♥♥♥, slave trading, diamond smugling, human trafficing, drunkards shooting each others under the influence of pain killers and various cheap drugs etc. etc. Also your boss should be some very shady character making you constantly thinking, are your actions for good or for bad. In real life, thats what being a mercenary is. Hopefully you can hire a writer. Or hire me. I already gave you tons of good material, so you are welcome. And don't worry, your writing gets better the older you get. Your parents die, maybe few of your children too. You get divorced couple of times. You decided to ride around the world with your motorcycle. Alone. You meet some very good people and some very, very bad people. Somehow you survive and I can guarantee you will write great books, videogames and movies. Seriously, this game is so very bad. Gameplay and graphics maybe ok, but these are not soldiers or mercenaries. Just a bunch of office workers running around some fantasy world.
Solid 80's fun.
