About
WWII turn-based tactics built around fast, dynamic battles, team-based multiplayer, and player-created maps.
In War Pawns, you command forces across compact hex-based battlefields where positioning, timing, and coordination decide the outcome. Flank enemy lines, secure key objectives, and turn small tactical advantages into decisive victories.
Every match is built around tactical pressure and battlefield control. Capture strategic flags, defend critical positions, and push toward enemy headquarters in fast, dynamic battles where every move matters.
Play competitive matches from 1v1 to larger team-based battles, depending on the map. Work with allies, cover vulnerable lanes, support frontline pushes, and break entrenched defenses through coordinated play.
Create custom hex maps with the built-in map editor, then bring them straight into battle. Design new tactical scenarios, experiment with layouts, and share player-made battlefields for long-term replayability.
Take control of a growing roster of units, each with its own tactical role on the battlefield. Use positioning, terrain, and coordinated attacks to outmaneuver your opponents and adapt to changing combat situations.
In addition to multiplayer, War Pawns offers single-player experiences, with further expansions planned during development.

Reviews
As advertised this game is for fast play. One game lasts between 30 and 75 minutes depending on the scale chosen. I do like the intense action and the variety of unit types, though they are still your basic roster. Unfortunately the fun is still limited somehow due to the content given so far. A half dozen prefab maps is not a lot, though the map editor does a good job by enabling you to create new ones with just one click. If you want to amend certain aspects on the map, it will not take a lot of time to figure out how to. What I am missing is a more potent scenario editor without having to access Steam Workshop, which I consider a bit tedious. I am missing the opportunitly to place units aforehead in strategic locations and some scripted events, which would dramatically alter the gaming experience. So far, a lot of units from one side meet a lot of units from the other side somewhere in the middle of the map, which gets repetitive after a while. Also, I would like to see more fractions like Japanese and British and a fitting environment in the Pacific. And a single player campaign per side (like the U.S. campaign) would certainly also make the game more interesting for many. The game still stands at its beginning and has definitely more potential to attract players with increased content over time.
