I really enjoyed my time with the game, played through it in 97 minutes, only missed three achievments. Its a really fun time for an Afternoon or two, could see myself playing it again or trying to speedrun it, because even in my short playtime it just hit that Itch that made me want to do everything again, but FAST. In my first playtrough i only had three major emersion breakes due to bugs: First off, the slopes in the game just dont feel right. By that I mean the ones you are supposed to walk up, not cliff-faces and such, but I think the way the player interacts with these has to be tweaked a bit. Secondly, glitching trough the Map, Its a one Person Game with a huge Play-Area, so its to be expected. And its true, most of the time you had to really look for these non-collision spots but were the issue comes in is with the already mentioned Slopes. After you obtain the dash ability, all you have to do to go underneath the map is use it facing any kind of Slope. And third was something i just noticed, when you arrive on the final Level and die, you just get teleported to the next checkpoint, without collecting any Maps. These points arent critiecs, they are just bugs I noticed. The game is really great and after watching the YT cideo two years ago i was really excited to try it. Save to say, it did not disappoint. (Sorry for the messy writing, i havent posted a lot of reviews on here)

I received this game as some what of a joke birthday gift, but it actually turned out to be an absolute delight. Nice simplistic art style, calm and relaxing atmosphere and music, really good and easy to learn mechanics, fun and rewarding exploration, and surprisingly nice squirrel customisation. On the whole this game is a really nice chill time, and I believe many others will think the same.
Walter Walnut should win game of the year. I love Walter Walnut and how he flies through the trees. I love Walter Walnut and how he talks to the animals. I love Walter Walnut and how he collects all of the hazelnuts and the golden peanuts and the keys and uses his luscious tail to decimate the native residents of the islands such as weasels, birds, and turtles. I love Walter Walnut and how he breaks the eggs (children) of the birds after he smashes their heads in with his tail. I love Walter Walnut.
A short but lovely little experience, absolutely worth the money despite having some of that my first game jank. It's roughly two hours to 100% The game is both charming and delightful. the level design makes good use of the movement and despite the occasional precise requirements with elevation changes it feels very well put together. The controls are smooth, movement feels fluid. Attacks do not feel at all impactful coming or going, with one exception, but that feels more like a limitation in the lack of animation experience and sound design than in a lack of care. This game is by no means a masterpiece but it is very much a diamond in the rough. I would strongly recommend this game for anyone who misses the 3D platformers of yore from the N64 era. Whether it is intentional or just coincidence, their influence shines through. The only complaint I have is that the developer did not put enough currency in the game to buy all the cosmetic components and there appears to be no way to respawn enemies or containers to get more, which is an oversight. This game appears to have been crafted with love, and an understanding for what made this genre great, even if the outcome is unpolished and the execution is a bit clumsy and inexperienced. The writing is perfectly serviceable and in some cases amusing. This developer has talent in this genre, and if they nurture their skills and grow their level design, they could be producing real, shining gems in the future.
eekhoorn !!
This is probably one of the most underrated 3D platformers I've played, no cap. Definitely worth the small price point tbh. The controls are garbage at first (I highly recommend setting the camera sensitivity to very low if on controller), but you get used to them after like 5 minutes and then it comes a chill little adventure. Nice creativity in this tbh. If I ever return to speedrunning (which is likely never) then I'm running this game. Definitely feels built for it given the bugs (they aren't bad bugs, but more like fun to play around with with bugs (that dash ability is super based lol)).
I really enjoy what I've played so far! Glad to see Codeer again.
Great little game, 100% finished it in an evening. Really enjoy short games. Just a simple charming 3D platformer with lots of collectables. Also some how I managed to finish the game without unlocking the dash... (Managed to struggle past some awkward jumps)
Thought the unlock for dash was a final secret (Oh well lol)
Codeer has blessed 3D platformer fans with a short but sweet mascot adventure game that channels the likes of Macbat 64 & Super Kiwi 64, minus the retro vibes. And I do mean blessed, because this started out as a side project. Walter Walnut's core movement is smooth and gliding is effortless joy. Combat is basic, just a simple tail-swipe and ground pound for attacks, but the AI (boss-fights included) are easy prey. Collecting all the golden peanuts is satisfying and provides a good collectathon focus, and the ongoing search for a mythical golden hazelnut maintains player interest even if the final reveal is a little underwhelming. There are also loads of clippable walls which can no doubt be exploited and enjoyed by speedrunners or anybody who likes to break games.
Don't know wtf did i just completed, but damn if it was MAGICAL! Hope to see some kind of followup to Walter Walnut. Really cozy platformer that tackle a particular art style i like: the spyro ps1 artstyle but in hd unity-like graphics. Really racommand this. It's really good for what it is and is really cheap, too! I say go for it even without a sale. The ending is kind anti-climatic tough.
