The difficulty of this game seems to get worse with every update, and every time players mention the ai characters playing like aimbots the developer seems to double down on it and make it worse. To show just one example, playing a bowlliards career against the tall steve character the ai character started with a 9 and then didn't miss another ball for 7 turns, before i quit. This sort of difficulty makes the game unplayable, and users cannot tweak it. To make it worse, the aim assist system is buggy. The virtual ball frequently disappears for obviously pottable balls. I have had enough of waiting for all of this to be dealt with so this review will be the result. Please make the difficulty more reasonable or allow users to tune it, and please fix the aiming bugs.
Having played pool at competitive level having participated in national championships, this Virtual Pool series always has been my favourite simulation of the game. Virtual Pool 4 is by far the best with an extremely accurate physics engine that brings it as close to real pool as possible. Once you adjust to mouse-based controls, there is remarkably fine control over the cue ball, responsive, predicable and accurate reactions from others balls, cushions and spin. I found playing this game I could apply the same patterns, shots and strategies I used in the real world, making it immensely enjoyable. There is a wide variety of games and disciplines and career modes to keep you entertained and an evergreen install on my gaming machines. The AI can feel a little unbalanced, at times easily running the table with impossible shots only miss a sitter at an attempt to simulate missing under pressure. But if you look past that you cannot really do much better than the Virtual Pool series for your pool simulation needs. Take a bow Celeris!

Cool game, Still one of the more playable pool simulators, but too high price to attract wider audience - which is a bit of a shame.
An absolutely stellar pool simulation with some absolutely glorious retro FMVs! Celeris are a beast of a developer, ever since the original 90s Virtual Pool on DOS, they pushed the pool simulation genre by leaps and bounds to make it the best it can be. Virtual Pool 4 may be showing its age with its outdated UI and the graphics could use a bit of an overhaul regarding the backdrops, but it has a charm that no other pool game can match. Combine this with online leaderboards, tournaments, online customisable profile with rankings and stats, and a VERY affordable multiplayer subscription, and you have a DAMN fine pool game! Whenever I want to chill and relax and brush up on my skills? Virtual Pool 4 will be waiting for me!
Excellent game!! Even years after its launch, it’s still maintained and regularly updated. Amazing work, guys! Thank you.
While the game play is okay, the scoring leaves a lot to be desired. If you lose one game and then win three games needed to win, you come away with fewer points than what you started with. Excuse me??? You won 3 times as many as your opponent. Why do you now have fewer points?
most of the time during my turn, the default aim always go to the outside of the table where there is nothing to aim at, making me always need to turn a 180 degree back onto table which is very fustrating and also giddy.
If I had to pick just one game, Virtual Pool 4 would be the one.
Still one of the best pool games around. I have played many others and always come back to this one.
