After playing the demo for a day, I bought the full game despite typically avoiding Early Access because a) I really enjoyed the demo and b) I appreciate the frequent updates from the developer, including engaging with the Steam community via the discussion board. As a long-time Harvest Moon player, I've played quite a few games in this genre, including Stardew, Kynseed, Story of Seasons, etc.. While there are echos of these other games in Verdant Village, it does have its own unique feel and I think especially as more features are implemented, it will continue to gain its own identity. In addition to the usual farming, foraging, fishing, and mining, there is also alchemy, archaeology, and hunting. I particularly want to give props to the fishing system/mini game as fishing is usually my least favorite activity. The mini game has just enough interaction to be more enjoyable than 'cast and click' but isn't frustrating, like games that require you to hit the correct timing or lose the fish. There's lots to do, lots to explore, and much more planned as the game continues development. If you aren't sure, definitely give the demo a try.
While I found the graphics initially confronting, and there are still large sections of the game not yet implemented (and a dire need for some improved tutorials/in-game help), this game is very enjoyable to play, and has a lot of potential for a really engrossing story. Several mechanisms of the game are slightly different from the usual expected of this style of game (ie ordering rather than crafting furnishings and minor farm structures), which lend an interesting new approach. Definitely looking forward to seeing the completed game.

As of now, I enjoy playing. No tools breaking is a Plus so I can enjoy doing other things like farming, mining, fishing, looking for flowers (for Alchemy) and such and/or building up my farm ( you do still have energy drain and it kind of drain fast thou ). Still in EA and there are many places still not open yet, but fetching quest, mining, fishing and building up my farm is enough to enjoy it as of now. KB+M or use controller both works fine for me. Would recommend if you don't mind sometime getting lost because no mini map guiding you around ( only annoying in the beginning, but after a while you will get used to it. Mine cave do have a mini map to help you. ) Still in EA and if you don't mind many area still not open for exploring. Super plus side for me, The developer is friendly. I was looking for info regarding where to look for a particular fruit. And was reading the dev reply to player(s) on itch.io and find them very friendly.
i love this game a lot really fun to play i can't wait 4 more
like stardew valley
Very good game !
I have watched this game grow. The developer is very communicative and listen to feedback, so it's fun seeing how you can influence upcoming content and help with bug fixes. The art is beautiful and communicate well the gameplay, with little clutter on the screen. It check all the boxes in of a life sim, and quests from npcs give you small goals to work for if you wan't some guidance in your game.
This is an early access game so I'm going with the thumbs up, but I think I need a break. It's highly open world, which is great, but I cannot really see what the story is. I keep bumping into invisible barriers and I'm getting a few glitches with the steam controller. Could do with some quests, or helping the village with probs, that kinda thing. Some vague guidance towards a goal. I mean I'm following the stardew valley route atm as it's clearly modelled from there. But anyone new to this kinda gaming will be lost. Also it's a bit clunky for your average gamer. A good start, looking forward to future updates.
This game is fun and relaxing to play. I really like where it is going and some of the mechanics are very innovative for a farm sim game; mainly the hunting mechanic is very impressive. While there is hunting there is no gore, the developer keeps the artwork and graphics tasteful. The only main problem I have with it is some of the maps are so large you get lost or it takes so long to go from one end to the other. This is something I think the developer is working on. About once a month there is a new developer log or update letting you know about the games progress. If your curious about this game just checkout the demo. As far as farm sim games on a computer this is easily one of my favorites and I enjoy reading the development updates; it's amazing to know that the developer is listening and has players in mind when working on the game. On one last note, the irrigation system in this game is amazing!
It a beautiful work in progress that has the classic look but has fun new mechanics and interesting characters. the developer gives fairly regular updates and is transparent about what's happening. I can't wait to see how it develops further
