About
Verdant Skies is a life simulation game born from a love for games like Harvest Moon and a desire to create something unique with modern gameplay and deep storytelling. Lose yourself in the lovingly hand-painted alien world of Viridis Primus. Ensure the success of the colony as you make friends and pursue romance with a diverse cast of characters. Demonstrate your mastery of the farming system by creating the perfect crop hybrid using the genetic splicing machine - or spend your days painting and making pottery. The possibilities are endless!
With many natural skin tone options and tons of unique hair styles and clothing choices you can easily craft your perfect avatar. Unlike many games in this genre, Verdant Skies doesn't ask you to choose a gender when you create your character. As you help to grow the colony, you will unlock additional datable residents.
Split your time wisely between activities as you help to build your colony. Gather resources, decorate your home, grow crops, go spear fishing, cook interesting meals, befriend your fellow colonists, and maybe even fall in love...
Verdant Skies has support for modding, players have created artwork replacement mods, new characters, extra tips, and more! If you love Verdant Skies, check out Forager and Staxel!

Writing a long overdue review, thank the developer for it as I just saw they gave an update enabling steam deck support which im massively in favour of! I played Verdant Skies quite some time ago, and even on a previous PC ago, and have to say it was exceptionally charming. Characters that are engaging and don't feel cookie cutter, some gorgeous art, and it really scratched the itch between cozy chill progression and early colony development. Progression is quite tightly interwoven with your relationships with various townspeople, and the upgrades that the colony gets as you move on are noticable both aesthetically and QoL wise. Oh and naturally, romancable characters. Always a fun time! For anyone with a deck wanting a more relaxed town/colony sim, I'd give this a solid reccommend. And to the dev, jolly good show old chap! More of this sort of thing!
I SMASHED this game in like 3 days. Some of the mechanics are confusing at first but then you realize it's a lot easier than you think. My only criticism is that some of the controls are a little stiff and before you get the speed upgrade you walk infuriatingly slow. That being said I literally couldn't put this down for three days straight

I bought this game years ago and the playability was gone after a couple weeks. I set it aside, hoping I would come back to some added content, fixes to some faulty game mechanics, maybe some graphics updates...that ways YEARS ago, and nothing has changed. No improvements, no DLCs, nothing. The Poly system they try to implement is broken af, too, especially when it is so violently easy to make every romanceable character in the game fall in love with you. All you have to do is talk to them regularly and they're in love. It's like a simulator of taking care of a colony of emotionally stunted raccoons that are constantly asking you to do stuff but bring nothing to the table themselves. I just wish this had been made with more love and wasn't basically published and abandoned aside from some minor bug fixes back in 2021.
I enjoyed exploring an alien planet, unlocking more colonists and experimenting with the crop gene splicer. The graphics are vibrant and simple with a fairly unique art direction compared to others in the genre. The character sprites themselves are probably the weakest part visually but I liked them. I found the gameplay really easy and quickly completed the game (excluding marriage). I loved seeing all the alien life designed and hidden around the map. The fishing mini game was more fun than most, reminded me a little bit of Lost in Blue’s on the DS. The characters are interesting and worth your time befriending to learn more about them. The main story is pretty short which can be a negative for some. As noted by others it is LGBTQ+ friendly. If you found SDV and similar games stressful this one is more relaxing. Whilst it is a Farming Life Sim like SDV, HM, SoS and other game inspired by them it feels less like a copycat than most. Maybe the setting helps as you are colonising an alien planet instead of moving to the countryside to take over a farm?
Adventurous!
This game sucks.
Hard to make rating for this.
[olist]
gameplay itself - good (not excellent)

no pass-out by time
click to move (pretty rare)
general resources is cheap to buy from store
no need to give gifts
gameplay progress with social "work" (be friend and get better tech)

story behind - good
link between story and gameplay - bad

Social part/main quest ends around of middle gameplay mechanics -> after is just sandbox.
strange decision for plant watering: until very very end -> manual watering two times per day.

lack QoL

no sorting for storage/bag, no quick stacking (didn’t found anything)
no craft from storage (except cooking with ingredient from freezer)
pathfinding cold be better
tool upgrade doesn’t feel as upgrade -- there is no numerical values, its text like "better/use less energy"
luck of information tooltips - i can see info about seed/fruit in bag, but not while they are in storage. There is 15+ of same fruit with different genetics.
[/olist]
Overall - it doesn’t feel as 100% ready game, but worth to try.
(it shame, just little more and it could be much better)
why can't find Wyatt?
I appreciate the characters dialogue, the graphics of the game, the ability to decorate my home and the necessary tasks of farming, mining and gathering for profit. The quests given too are enjoyable, so I would recommend this game!
It's a very engaging game to play, with good characters and a lot to do to keep you busy. It's not hard, but a lack of available information is kind of making things harder for me. The WIKI is light on info, like someone gave up on it right after making it. Now I'm stuck because my inventory was full when I completed a collection for Wyatt and I missed getting some things I likely needed to continue onward. I'm giving it a 'recommendation' but all in all it's an older game with what looks like almost no support.
