About

CHAPTER 1: A TALE OF TALL MEN
Our first chapter explores the shocking grief of a coming-of-age story in an industrial fantasy setting. As our eighteen-year-old protagonist meets the esteemed Ret Avidine, Orven has it all: his hero, his city, and his ideals. But when Ret’s project fails, Orven must come into his own adulthood and make difficult decision after decision as he maneuvers through punishing healthcare systems that pit his welfare against his goodness. As Orven’s resolve is tried, it is your choices that determine whether his hope can break through the pervasive smog.

Honestly, I wish I could get a refund for this, lol. I know the other reviews are currently praising the art and the "cozy" vibes, but we need to be real about what you're actually getting here. This game claims to be "Chapter 1," but calling it that is a huge stretch—it plays entirely like a prologue. It is incredibly short and severely lacks any meaningful substance to justify being sold as a standalone game. One of the weirdest parts is how the game makes you pick titles for photo cards for all 6 of the planned chapters, which makes zero sense given that you don't even touch the other ones. But the most egregious part is the developers' excuse for this structure: they claim they did it "in case they can't put out all the chapters." Well guys, if you can't put out the rest of the chapters, then there is a massive problem, because there simply isn't enough content here for Chapter 1 to be good on its own. Releasing something this bare-bones and then using the possibility of future cancellation as an excuse is almost actively insulting to the people buying it right now. Save your money until (or if) the actual game ever gets finished, because this "Chapter 1" isn't it.
Loving the story so far, so many questions and mysteries and so many endearing characters! The setting is super interesting too, like a half D&D semi-magical take on the industrial revolution. If you want a comfy with plenty of intrigue and charm, I definitely recommend it!

I’ve purchased this game and truly enjoy its core design and vision. I’d like to sincerely ask if the developer would consider adding official Chinese localization in a future update. I understand that the current English-only version is due to resource and time constraints. However, the Chinese-speaking player base is large and active, and many of us are willing to support great games financially. While the language barrier doesn’t stop us from buying, official translation would definitely help more players fully appreciate the game and enrich the community. I know localization takes time and money, but I hope this can be taken as friendly feedback from a player. Even if it's added gradually in later updates, it would mean a lot to many Chinese players. Thank you for making such a wonderful game. I look forward to seeing it reach more Chinese players in the future.
Played it as soon as it came out! This game is full of heart and fantastic world building! The characters are charming, funny, and lovable and I can't wait to play it again to see the other endings! The plot keeps you guessing and the premise of the story makes for an captivating mystery! Excited for future chapters!!
LOVE LOVE LOVED Chapter 1 of Ventreville. It’s approachable, cozy, and atmospheric, but there’s so much intention behind the experience. The art, puzzles, cooking mini-game, and little details all made exploring Orven Zanry and his world genuinely enjoyable. Playing through it multiple times to reach the different endings has made me feel like I really know Orven, and I loved how much of Chapter 1 is devoted to understanding who he is. At the same time, the larger mystery has me completely hooked. The clues scattered throughout feel incredibly intentional, and I have a strong feeling they’re going to come back around as the larger story unfolds. Nothing feels like throwaway detail. To me, getting to know Orven and the world was just as magical as uncovering the mystery itself. The six-chapter structure actually makes me excited to see how everything connects. The developers clearly have a larger story arc and vision in place, and I’m very invested in seeing where it goes next. I’ve already replayed it several times, and I’m still finding things to think about. I can’t wait for the next chapter!
This game is one of the better visual novels i have played so far. The characters have a lot of depth and are unique. The quick time events are fun and add a little extra pizzaz. The character design is also really good. Great price for a great game!
I absolutely recommend this game!! The visuals are undeniably stunning and also both the character designs and backgrounds are unique within the visual novel genre. I adore all the voice acting (though Ms. Odiche's lines are my personal favorite!) and the music—they both add so much in terms of immersion and ambiance. And most of all... COOKING WAS SO FUN! I always enjoy cooking mechanics in games and found this game's take on it refreshing. And of course, all the characters are super interesting and likeable, and I am highly invested in the plot. I can't wait for more chapters!!!
Everything about this game from the characters, to the music, to the art design, to the story is so so charming and makes for a really engaging experience! It's a game that I find difficult to put down because everywhere I turn, I keep finding something or someone that pulls me back into the experience. (Not the mention the larger mystery going on! I love the pacing of all of these clues and reveals! Learning new information / discovering more pieces of the larger puzzle really feels satisfying.) Most of all, I adore this cast of characters here. Everyone is so interesting and well thought out, and their interactions make the game so much fun to play. (I have my own personal favorites already, which I think is a mark of how strong the character work is, both in terms of their writing, and in how much work has been done to bring them to life on the screen: the character portraits, the voice acting / sound design, the text design, it all makes everyone feel so unique and memorable.) I'm incredibly excited to check out all the various branching paths to meet everyone I haven't gotten the chance to see so far! (And then meet everyone else in the following chapters, of course!)
The story and the art behind this game are beautiful! Even in the first few minutes, you can tell how intentional every decision in game design was that makes for an absolutely delightful and visually-satisfying experience.
I was so excited for this to finally be released! The characters are heartwarming, the story is riveting, and the art is absolutely STUNNING! I love that there are multiple endings as well, which really give you the opportunity to explore more of the world and the characters. Can't wait for more and to play as the other protagonists on the title screen!
