Veil of Dust: A Homesteading Game

I've only made it through Aine's route so far, but I appreciate that this is a farming/survival sim with some actual difficulty. It runs fine on Steam Deck, though the controls are a bit rough; you may need to use the touch screen instead of the track pads to reliably gather stuff while foraging and I found combat a bit difficult with the trackpad as well. However, I am disappointed that the character interactions are so heavily pushed as romantic that their storylines abruptly end if you choose not to date a character,

Great game, the story is really good and I love the farming mechanics. It's very cool how the game is basically a different experience if you play as a different sibling. I would definitely recommend this game

Beautiful game with unique style. Only negative about the game in my opinion is how many times I accidentally went to sleep when trying to talk to my sibling xD But at least I got the characters some more much-needed rest. It was hard to stop playing, got really hooked. Developing the farm was challenging (=earning money and having enough energy to gather building materials) but I liked the challenge. Played through on Áine first and then on Shane and it's interesting to see how everything looks on his perspective too.

I really appreciate how the storytelling explores the relationship between the siblings and how they navigate the hardships in Old West. Bonus: you can choose the siblin for your game run (it changes your skills and many choices within the story). Although the gameplay is primarily concerned about survival, homesteading, etc. and it leans into cozy horror at best, I spent quite a time with this game and I'm planning on getting back to it soon.

There are definitely many things in this game that can be improved, but overall it's a fantastic game that I'm glad I got. Although, it doesn't have much replayability as there is little to no choices you can make except love interests. Different endings would improve the game tenfold.

I played the demo for all of 10 minutes before falling in love with the gameplay. The character interactions are great! They're perfectly grounded in realism, which helps me stay all the more immersed and further deepens my love for this game. I can't wait to see how it ends! Just as soon as I build up my stamina again...
