Unsung Story

I'm excited for all things FFT but this is a scam plain and simple. No gameplay updates in over 2 years (just class design docs). I waited 2 years to write this, more time than I'd ever give any other project. It's time to wash my hands of this.

Abandoned (zero updates or communication since December 2022). Do not buy.

All these years later and I'm still actually waiting to see if this game ever REALLY releases. Killed Kickstarters for me forever

Unfinished and abandoned.

No developer updates in nearly 2 years and it is very, very unfinished.

Obviously, this game's development has been troubled. If we admit that early backers essentially had their money stolen and set that issue aside, my review still has to be quite negative. The unit-based initiative system that tactics fans love has been scrapped by the devs in favor of either side moving all of their units at once. They changed this to shoehorn their 'Melody' system into the game they inherited. Players are supposed to take actions in a specific order to receive buffs. Between the shallow strategy of moving your units all at once and being shackled to a few specific tactics by the Melody system, there isn't much to think about. The game is still in early access, but, at least in the Discord, player feedback doesn't get any response. Unsung Story isn't good now and doesn't look like it's getting any better. I don't think we can call it abandonware quite yet though.
