Bottom line: The developers still support the game after decades, and there's a modding community that adds many optional items and features. If you are on the fence on this game, I would recommend watching youtube let's play series, if you find yourself getting lost in the emergent narrative, I would recommend buying this game, which crafts those experiences when one has familiarity with the controls and survival mechanics. Truly an awesome experience. Takes some time to get used to the controls, just like any roguelike game, but beyond that learning curve is a deep, immersive and (for me) educational game. I find myself launching this game after a long day at work, and while survival in this game is a whole different type of struggle, I find it is an enjoyable and fun experience. For me it scratches the same itch as walking in the woods on a quiet day.
A rather unique game (there's similar ones, but this still stands out) that really shows the long development time. Though, it's... Well, not 'shallow', but 'simple'. If you loved playing, f.ex., Cataclysm:DDA because it's fun to scavenge a world filled with resources, learning to jury-rig whatever devices you need and rebuilding infrastructure from scratch... This isn't that sorta game. Buy it if you think you'll enjoy carving a niche and settling into it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is excellent and especially excellent on Linux, which I have exclusively played it on for an amount of time I that will remain unstated to spare the reviewer's feelings.
The most amazing survival game I've ever played and it's still in development, they keep adding more and more things to it, please devs, NEVER, EVER dare to give up on this amazing game!
UnReal World is a really good game, no doubt, Sami Maaranen absolutely cooked with this one. It’s deep, unforgiving, and doesn’t care if you know what you’re doing or not. You’re thrown into survival and expected to figure it out the hard way, and yeah… it’s brutal. You will struggle, a lot. It’s a bit pricey for what it looks like, sure, but hey, there’s a ton of depth behind it. Once it clicks, it’s insanely rewarding. Hard, slow, and not for the impatient, but that’s exactly why it works. 8.5/10
Most realistic survival game i have ever played and its really fun even if the graphics and controls are a bit dated
The only game I know where you can eat your own dad.
One of the first rpg I played. Still on absolute blast to play to this day. Also hard as going solo in Iron age should be.
this is possibly one of the best if not the GREATEST open world survival games of all time it is also the oldest one at that. If your not sure you want to buy it here on steam i will remind you it is free on the unreal world website you do not need to pay the steam version is just here for people that want to play unstable versions. Nothing beat the satisfaction of persistence hunting an elk in early spring except maybe... actual hunting if there were any elk near where i lived.
