Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 25 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Unemployment Simulator 2018 is an unconventional life simulation that explores a topic rarely addressed in games: the emotional and practical reality of living without a job. Developed by Samuel Lehikoinen and published by turbolento publishing, the game places players in the role of an unemployed individual struggling to maintain a sense of purpose while confined to a modest apartment. Drawing inspiration from the developer's personal experiences, it offers a grounded and often uncomfortable look at everyday survival, replacing traditional action and adventure with the challenges of managing both physical needs and mental well-being. Its willingness to tackle a realistic and sensitive subject immediately sets it apart from more conventional simulators. Instead of focusing on wealth, career progression, or building an empire, the gameplay centers on simply making it through each day. Players must carefully balance hunger, hygiene, energy, boredom, and emotional stability while stretching limited resources. Everyday tasks such as preparing meals, cleaning the apartment, brushing teeth, filling out job applications, or finding something entertaining become meaningful objectives. One of the game's more distinctive systems revolves around managing dopamine, encouraging players to seek healthy forms of stimulation to avoid sinking further into depression and apathy. These mechanics successfully transform routine activities into engaging survival elements while emphasizing how difficult ordinary responsibilities can become under prolonged stress. The narrative gradually unfolds through a combination of daily life and surreal dream sequences. Every night offers a temporary escape from reality as the protagonist imagines different versions of life, from fulfilling careers to extraordinary adventures. These dream segments provide a welcome contrast to the repetitive nature of daily survival while also highlighting the gap between hopes and reality. Rather than relying on dramatic plot twists, the story builds emotional weight through subtle moments, making the player's small victories feel surprisingly rewarding. Visually, the game embraces a retro-inspired pixel art style that complements its intimate setting. Although the environment remains largely confined to a single apartment, thoughtful environmental details prevent it from feeling lifeless. The soundtrack enhances the atmosphere with music that alternates between reflective, melancholic, and occasionally uplifting tones, reinforcing both the loneliness and the quiet optimism that define the experience. The combination of simple visuals and effective audio design creates a believable world that supports the game's emotional themes. Another notable strength is its balance between serious storytelling and dark humor. The writing recognizes that humor often emerges during difficult situations, allowing awkward and absurd moments to coexist naturally with themes of depression, financial hardship, and isolation. Mature content, including references to alcohol consumption, nudity, and mental health struggles, is incorporated to support the realism of the narrative rather than simply to provoke. This gives the game a level of authenticity that feels respectful toward the subject matter while remaining entertaining. The deliberate pacing will not appeal to everyone. Players expecting constant excitement or rapid progression may find the repetitive routines demanding, as much of the experience involves maintaining daily habits and carefully managing limited resources. However, this repetition serves the central message well, illustrating the monotony and emotional exhaustion that can accompany long-term unemployment. The game succeeds because it commits fully to its premise rather than simplifying the experience into a traditional management simulator. Overall, Unemployment Simulator 2018 delivers a surprisingly thoughtful and emotionally engaging experience that stands out through its originality and honesty. By combining survival mechanics, psychological storytelling, life simulation, and understated humor, it offers a perspective rarely explored in interactive entertainment. Although its slow pace and mature themes may limit its audience, those interested in narrative-driven simulations with meaningful social commentary will likely appreciate its unique approach. It is an ambitious indie title that transforms ordinary life into a compelling survival experience. Rating: 8/10

Do not take this indie title on face value. This is where video games become a form of true art and social commentary. Affecting, relatable, sometimes funny, sometimes disturbing. Absolutely unique and worth checking out for the times we currently live in.
Depression Quest, but with more capitalist isolation and a healthy dose of insanity. Really good stuff. Also, everyone should read Chris Sutcliffe's piece on Mothership.blog about Unemployment Simulator.
Her zaman kendi hayatımın oyunu olsun istemiştim sonunda yapılmış. Müthiş gerçekten tavsiye ediyorum.
A game that you just have to experience. You will not know where you are going until you take the journey and embrace this little gem of a game. Fair price for a hand crafted experience
Well made rogue like visual novel that can be very depressing and hard to play sometimes. There are some timing elements with the puzzles, but the game just restarts from the previous day when you "die" of boredom or from slipping on trash in your filthy apartment and you can try again.
No geral o jogo é bem divertido, vale a pena!
loved it, some things are painfully accurate
Part life simulation, part dark comedy, part survival game, Unemployment Simulator 2018 captures the feeling of being unemployed and struggling with mental health that reminds me of what so many of us went through in our 20s. Play as a random fellow living in a single bedroom apartment in an undisclosed Nordic state, struggling with boredom, mental health, social isolation, and the hunt for employment. Each day has you completing a series of four tasks, all while managing your dopamine, anxiety, health, and fatigue; you will literally die of boredom if you don't keep your character entertained. Dopamine and anxiety can be managed via exercise, eating, sleeping, watching YouTube videos, wanking to porn, and, mainly, by playing video games on your computer. Fatigue is replenished via sleep, charging up rapidly if you take a short rest on your bed should it run down in the middle of the day. Your days are spent coping with social isolation and trying to balance your ever-dwindling mental health. As such you only have enough spoons / drive to perform four tasks a day, ranging from simple tasks like opening a letter, making food, cleaning X number of pieces of trash, exercising, cleaning the toilet, brushing your teeth, showering, etc. Completing your four tasks for the day will let you use the toilet, turn off the light, and get some sleep. You will have the option of playing through a variety of different dreams in the night, although they are completely optional, having no effect on the next day. Unemployment Simulator 2018 captures what it feels like to be without work for an extended period of time, having life simply not work out like you might have been told it would while growing up, and dealing with continually deteriorating mental health problems / social isolation on top of it all. Our playable character goes through periods of melancholy, self loathing, and rage during their attempt to find work and get back on their feet. As days go by, the apartment will accumulate filth and bug infestations, mirroring the mental health of the playable character. Time will eventually reveal something else going on in the apartment outside of your usual daily routine. One night you will receive a letter, plus a transmitter, with instructions on how to attune it, and open a portal to another realm. For those interested in more detail:
Your character starts receiving messages from an alien-like being, being told to set up a transmitter, open a portal to another realm, be operated upon by another alien creature, participate in rituals, become friends with a pig-man, learn of an ancient war between the ants and fruit flies, and the prophecy of your coming.
Unemployment Simulator 2018 is a brilliant experience, uniquely capturing the experience of unemployment and mental health in a way I haven't seen before, while still being able to add an interesting twist in the way of a science fiction adventure. I know this is not going to be an experience that will be for everyone, but it is one I can't recommend enough all the same.
