DC Comics should look into this and hire the developers to make a good Superman game.

I'm gonna be honest. This game is very good. Very unique take on Superman. But uh, there are so many cons that I'm gonna list them out and let you decide how you feel, because while this game is good, it's missing so much. 1) COMBAT - Basically one of the main drives for this game. It's an OK system I suppose, and pretty fun when you do the tutorial at first (as well as rank up, which we'll get into.) You have the basic attack combo, the ranged attack combo, the special button, and the doom (death?) fist. I don't remember exactly what it was called. Anyway, there was probably more but I stopped after getting S rank. Also if you're flying, the ranged attack changes and the melee attack becomes a super hero landing. Another thing is that uh... these all basically one shot. Yeah no, nothing engaging. There's no point in giving you all these options. Boss fights make you use ranged attack the entire time (which we'll get into) and then you use a completely new version of the melee attack that cannot be used anywhere else in favor of Superhero landing. 2) RANKING - A very unique mechanic, with 1 flaw. If you wanna be evil for once you lose points. Now this isn't bad by any means, but eventually you get bored of flying around doing the same destruction or flying objectives, and sometimes flying around and going to an area just to press F and leave again, and people find destruction fun! ...well you can't do that. While maybe this sounds like a nothing burger, it's just a rank! That was when I discovered that if you go down a rank, you lose the associated abilities. There's no upgrade menu or anything. The progression is extremely horrible because if you just do the flying trials, you'll get 10x more than from crimes, which is bad. You should be wanting to do the crimes, not the trials, as they are more engaging. You MUST fly around and you MUST fight my evil bosses because i said so. Oh yeah, I should explain what objectives even ARE. 3) OBJECTIVES - Boring. I'll elaborate, but that's how I can explain them in one word. These are meant to be optional to see how strong you got, but it became the exact opposite. There are 2 types: Destructive and Flying. Destructive is so unbelievably boring. There are these weird structures that range from poles to entire buildings with purple lights. You hit them once, they explode. You hit as many as you can as fast as you can for better star ratings, up to 5 (obviously). That's it. Once you get laser eyes, the real challenge is just finding out where they're all placed and using laser eyes and the ranged flying attack interchangeably. The flying objectives are exactly what you're thinking. Whatever you think they are is correct, and that's not really a bad thing, but it has problems of it's own. Basically you have to fly through these checkpoints that are just floating circles. After you fly through them all, you win. If you fly through the center red area, you get a perfect. These each give 300 ranking per circle. See the problem yet? Within 3-6 seconds, you'll have already gotten more than crimes do through these challenges, and there are from 20-50 OF THEM PER OBJECTIVE. And because of how many points it takes to rank up, if you want to get stronger, these are basically necessary, and you can keep doing them as much as you want. They both get boring after the first 2 or 3 uses of them. 4) CRIMES - The events in this game are as follows: Someone is stuck under a rock. A building is on fire. There are a lot of bad guys. That's about it. For the rock one: you fly over and press F. For the fire one: you fly over and press F. For the bad guys one, at least you get to USE the combat, but you'll finish it almost instantly. Even if you find it fun to be really OP, the bad guys one is extremely rare as opposed to me sometimes solving a burning building, flying away, and that same building will be burning 5 seconds later, or take up to 3 minutes. And no that is not an exaggeration, it is genuinely 5 seconds. I don't keep track but these give about 2k ranking usually. Also for the crime where you fight a bunch of criminals, at a certain point the bullets just don't do anything to you, which sounds cool but this means crimes lose any stakes, and lack of stakes means lack of reason. 5) BOSSES - Gonna be fr, this wasn't bad conceptually either. I like how since you can't take damage in this game, they make you have to make sure the city doesn't get destroyed rather than you. Problem is they're always the same. Do ranged attacks. Spam the melee. Repeat. Sometimes spam(?) F and hit a really op attack at them. And if you unlock laser eyes, they basically become nothing to you at rank A. After you use laser eyes which WILL break their armor and deal a bunch of damage, just spam melee. Then, do it again! The CD is so low that there's basically no punishment to just using the laser eyes every 2 seconds. 6) ok, well can you at least-- No. There is nothing past what I've already said. There is nothing unique for the rest of the game. That is it. This game should be used as a time killer at most, it brings unique concepts to the table but there's just...well...not enough fleshed out. Maybe the sequel will have more but the main game so far is just so unbelievably repetitive that you'll find yourself doing the same thing over and over within 5 minutes and tired of it. tldr; don't expect this 50 hour game you'd see other games do (how is this getting a sequel rather than a full version??)
This game is kind of a sandbox and proof of concept. The bones for a game are there (and I hope Genesis is good) but doesn't have much going for it. It has a couple missions and a boss fight or two, but overall the special powers are cool even if they are temporary and you have to go get them again. I only give it a recommend because it is free and should give you an idea of what the sequel will be. 6/10
