About
You know, when you explain an idea, the idea fundamentally changes.
UNBEATABLE is an anime-juiced rhythm adventure where you (figuratively) destroy on stage while you (literally) destroy on stage. During rhythm gameplay, you only need two buttons: a button for up and a button for down. Simple to understand! The complicated part is doing it. Try not to get destroyed yourself.
Half the game is walking around and taking things at your own pace. The other half is trying to keep up with ours.
The pink-haired girl is Beat, and she is you, and you have a lot of things to worry about. The cops are everywhere, and they are mad at you for what feels like no good reason. Though it doesn't help your case that you keep making friends with people that the cops are mad at for slightly better reasons. But what do I know?
Talk to people, help them out (or don't, I'm not your mom!), play huge concerts, and punch cops. And then run away from the cops you punched. Also there are monsters or something. Not sure what's going on there?!?!
All of this culminates in massive setpieces where everything is at stake. The music got you here. It'll get you through it.
*if this was 1999 this section would be called "talk the talk and rock the rock"
UNBEATABLE's full arcade mode is an entire game by itself with its own progression system and a full online component. There's modifiers, tons of songs (with more to come!) and a whole challenge board to beat, with things to do that range from as simple as "beat a song on easy mode" to, one may presume, something as complicated as "solve an ancient riddle while skateboarding." That's not a real example.
**if this was 1999 this section would be called "party like it's now"
FEATURES:
Story Mode: 6-8 hours. Arcade Mode: UNLIMITED
Characters that hate you!
Maybe also some that don't!
The arcade mode has a cute little profile you can customize and unlock stuff for and I think that's pretty neat
Graphics! We'd describe them but I mean it's right there, you can see it
A whole entire double album worth of original songs
plus acoustic versions of those songs
oh and also remixes, too
You can unlock all the songs by playing the narrative OR just by playing the arcade game exclusively! Great for those who truly hate stories
Something (in this game) will make you feel something (in real life)!
It's anime
If you think about it, QTEs are basically just rhythm games with no music
Please, whatever you do, the title is either all caps or no caps. Be kind to us.
And the idea changes you in return.

This game is just incredibly special. It's perfect, it's rough, it's a lot of things, but it is genuine to its core. It is incredible and you should be playing it
Stellar. Absolutely so much to love with this damn game. I think most important for a rhythm game, the soundtrack is FULL of original bangers and a few known tracks from other indie rhythm games, and everything sounds great. The art is gorgeous throughout the entire game, that will jump out from the second you start playing it. The gameplay isn't my favorite out of any rhythm game I've played, and figuring out what control scheme works the best for you takes way longer than it honestly should, but once you do it feels natural. Then once you start really getting into the weeds with it, learning how to play properly, and playing some of the harder charts, it's downright addictive. Now that customs are an officially supported thing on the PC version, with actual community support behind it, you'll never run out of new tracks to take a swing at. That would be an even better win for the game if the Arcade Mode UI didn't suck balls to actually find tracks... like seriously, no search bar is so painful when I'm just trying to find a song I need to clear for a challenge, and it's only gonna get worse now that DLC is on the way. I hope it's changed sooner rather than later, to be more in line with other rhythm games out there right now. It feels so dated and painful. Story wise, UNBEATABLE throws you into the deep end of a story you'll never quite get all the answers for, and that's okay, because what it does tell you is a lovely story with so much love and passion clearly poured out into it... even if at times it can be a buggy mess. It's rough around the edges, extremely on the nose with it's themes--it knows this, it runs with it, and it's all the better for it. I didn't love every minute of the story mode, but the highs made up for the lowest bits, and any game that can get me to bawl my eyes out obviously did something right. Overall if you love rhythm games, or are even totally fresh to the genre, UNBEATABLE is well worth $28, and will give you hours upon hours of varied experiences, challenges, and skill-improvement grind for potentially years to come. 8.5/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is one of the most conflicted opinions I've had and although I'm not finished with the story mode yet i wanted to voice some of my problems. Let's start with the positives, the music is great, the art is great, the characters are hilarious (cannot stress how funny the dialogue is). The "rhythm game" part is well done (despite some problems with the offset). However this experience is brought down with some of the issues I've seen in my first couple hours of playtime. The start is a little jarring, after the first section you gain control of Beat in a random neighborhood if i remember right, I was asking myself during this moment, who is this person, what are they doing here, and those don't really get explained, and while i know the importance of show don't tell and accept that its fine to have a character who is an unknown, some sense of direction or drive would be nice. After some time trying to find out where to go I then meet up with another character, Quaver, which once again, i don't know why I am meeting with her, since we don't seem like friends and i have no idea why I'm even there. I just wish that i could be told in dialogue between characters what they're planning to do or go to, since usually i find out by being thrusted into something and trying to figure it out from there. I feel like an opening monologue from Beat or someone else would do great right before we gain control of her, giving a small introduction, telling the player what she's doing here, and maybe saying that music is illegal, since you wouldn't know this for a while unless you read about the game beforehand, which felt a little strange to me. This game really leans into the show don't tell, but i think some things may need to be outright said. If i could explain the story mode it feels like you're walking around with a blindfold on, you understand what is happening only right when you run into it, then get ahold of the situation, then repeat. This review is getting too long so I'm going to finish up. If you do go into this game, expect a story/visual novel-ish game with rhythm game sections included, not the other way around. If you do that i think you'll have fun despite the problems i listed (I have so far). I will continue to play and will give an update once i finish the story mode with anythting else i have to say. Thanks
best rhythm game and one of the best games ive played art is beautiful, songs are amazing to listen to even when not playing the game, story was impactful, and the characters felt real "music is the closest thing we have to proof that god exists" or something
Tore out my heart and then serenaded me/10
the fact this managed to shadow drop and still be a better game than some triple a titles says a lot, it truly is something unbeatable. usually I would be writing some joke review but this is genuinely the best rhythm game I have ever touched, you don't even need to be great at rhythm games to enjoy both the rhythm game and the fantastic story please spend the $45 for the breakout edition + jamie paige dlc (once it drops), it is worth every penny imaginable and they all deserve it 20/10 absolute cinema
This game is so much fun. I remember watching the game trailer thinking to myself that looks cool, but so much of this game has making me enjoy it waaay more than I thought. I'm currently just playing through the story, but the story is super fun. I love the visual style, cut scenes, the dialogue, the music in the game, the characters. Literally everything this game has thrown me. This game is a an amazing rhythm game. I also love the different variations of different rhythm game they threw in. Obviously you have the "main game" one but I have seen at least three other variations/styles that spice it up.
Definitively the best rhythm game sense guitar hero
Wallah its perfect, never seen a game made with more love
