A fun Roguelite with nice mix of Pogs, pokémon and Rock, paper, scissors.
Turnbreak is a very simple premise of rock paper scissors, making it very accessible to people who are usually turned away at the door by strategy/card games. Gameplay loop is satisfying and I never get tired of hearing the announcer shout out “Turn Break! Double Break! Triple Break!”. Don’t be discouraged if strategy/cards isn’t typically your thing. Turnbreak feels like a slow drip where you can get by on raw RPS mechanics at first, then slowly work your way through the other systems like the cards, the beast abilities, and the morale system. I know I’m selling it to the new, inexperienced player pretty hard here, but don’t get it twisted. Once you get invested in playing Turnbreak there is no shortage of depth to the gameplay. There’s a million small optimizations that make the difference between a good breaker and a GREAT breaker. I played a good amount of the nextfest demo and at the time I thought the individual beast abilities were a cool mechanic, but with this full release they cranked it up to 11 with more beasts and new items that let you play with the activation conditions of abilities. I’m an avid fan of strategy games like this so I was stoked to see that level of customization in the game. It really reminds me a lot of something like Legends of Runeterra’s path of champions mode where just about everything can be changed and prodded to get you just a *little* more value. In other news I’m very much a single player enjoyer, but from what I hear PvP is a priority in development coming up so that’s pretty sweet. Also a baller twitch vs streamer if you’re into that sort of thing. Obviously the game is still in early access so it’s not a complete campaign yet, but all the ideas are in place. If I can have this much fun with one “world” of the campaign, I can’t imagine how addicting this will be once it leaves early access. TLDR: Turnbreak offers a comfortable new player experience for those not invested in the card/strategy genre, while also providing a wide and complex array of systems for experienced strategists to optimize and engage with. For 7.99 this game is a killer pickup even in early access.

Recomendo demais!
cool game, but it has a few "quirks" it's was very hard to actually come up with a strategy, as i struggled to differentiate types and their advantages and disadvantages (i am very colorblind and the shades of the types being very similar in shade combined with their type symbol not showing up unless you either hover over that specific beast or hold down right click threw me a few times when i wasn't paying attention) i also struggle with large blocks of text and the tutorial was not too terribly helpful because of that, at least for me. maybe other people had a better experience. the game's a bit bland right now, probably due to it being early access, but hey it's not all doom and gloom, the battles that i did have were actually pretty fun... once i got used to them. the getting used to them part wasn't great. oh well, it's not the end of the world. i'm very excited to see how this game develops, and if you could, maybe add some more visual aids to the gameplay, even if it's in an accessibility menu? thanks ♡
Been playing this since the demo and I love the vibe of gen 1-3 of Pokémon, I love that it’s all hand drawn, and it’s a unique take on the monster collector genre!! It definitely takes a minute to understand how to play, but that’s most RPG’s. Once you understand the basic types and see that it’s rock, paper, scissors, then everything falls into place! And the game does a good job at helping you out with indicators instead of holding your hand! Would definitely recommend!!
This is a cool game with a very cool concept, you can tell the devs actually care about the game due to their frequent updates. Everytime the announcer says Turnbreak! I tilt my head back in ecstacy and moan. Good game overall and cant wait to see whats added in the future.
I love this game. Aesthetically, it's similar to pokemon, but gameplay wise, it's an engaging dance of probability and risk mitigation. I'd compare it to buckshot roulette more than anything else, although playing feels entirely different (more varied, more quirky, more simple fun, more complex fun, more rabbyte) (I love Rabbyte) anyways you should play every game made by dapper dog cause they're insanely talented.
This interactive construct represents an unprecedented synthesis of predictive algorithms and immersive engagement, challenging traditional epistemological frameworks of gameplay. Its innovative mechanics operate at the sublime intersection of mathematical probability and phenomenological interaction, rendering it—without hyperbole—a quantum leap in interactive entertainment.
Lots of fun. Pretty deep when you start to figure it out.
the game is extremely fun to replay because of your random starters and actual REAL LIFE PLAYER BUILDS you can encounter in the game i fought my past build like 3 times and i love it. i hope the game gets more players because it is AWESOME
