5/10 shortcut finding simulator with its own made up language almost all text in this game including item names are a made up language at no point in the game do you get a magic thing that lets you read it. you can do it yourself but its gonna take tons of work. no reason for this ive finished the game and still dont know what a large % of the items ive picked up do. cool i found another tooth thought it was cool at first and thought i would slowly unlock letters until i could read it, nope. at the end game theres about 12 to 15ish people you can talk to with lots of text. only 1 line thats readable and it wasnt helpful at all - massive amounts of backtracking you did the thing with the 3 keys, now what? the game even gives you steam achievement called what now? you back track around the entire map for 2 and a half hours to see if it did anything anywhere. it didnt.... gave up and looked it up online and it did one tiny thing in a hidden area + meh maps - no waypoints - no this is the thing your on now quest - 30$ price tag is high - game breaking bugs. the thing doesnt do the thing it should and unable to continue. full rest of game fixes it - going from screen A to screen B kills you.... no idea why this would trigger. happened to me 3 times well playing and 2 of those time where in the same spot - going down a ladder and you get stuck on it. every single time on the same 3 ladders + exit to menu and reloading game on the same screen fixes it https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3776688471 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3776688469

So the main charm of the game, and what attracted me to it, was the aspect of no hand holding and the unique translation aspect. the music and lack of verbal dialogue just work fantastically with the aspect of needing to collect pages and kill monsters to slowly translate things around the world into your game guide. The boss fights I have encountered are fun with my two favorite thus far being at the top of the tower and the one in the depths of the island. Having to explore and try things out without the hand holding takes me back to my child hold with older NES and SNES titles where you just have to figure it out and be rewarded for your efforts. Music 9/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Visual Style: 9/10 Controls: 8.5/10 - some items you cant really target the landing trajectory well. Cost/Value(on sale): 10/10
Tunic is a well made game, and based on current reviews it is also fair to say that it is a really good game. But this review is about if I recommend the game, and I simply would not recommend Tunic to the majority of people. I probably came to the game with the wrong expectations. I really like going into games completely blind, exploring them at my own pace, and Tunic gets repeatedly recommended to be a game perfect for that, with many mysteries and depth to explore. So I was very excited to try it out. And that part, the exploration and mysteries, I also liked a lot. I really wanted to keep playing for that, but the very high difficulty just stops me from enjoying that part of the game I am playing it for. It feels like this game was made for a very specific kind of people, that enjoy learning and repeating the same sections over and over, failing many times until finally succeeding. The lack of a classic difficulty setting underlines that. So, this review should basically be interpreted as a "recommended" for people who like souls-likes, and as a "not recommended" and a warning for people that expect a game focussed on being a exploration puzzle adventure. This game is a difficult action souls-like FIRST with cool mysteries and puzzle to explore, not the other way around.
I really tried liking this game. The exploration is cool in concept, but when you finally start figuring out where to go, you get killed by the same enemies over and over again. The learning curve for the combat is steep and unrewarding. Difficulty is maxed out both in skill and intelligence. I know that it can appeal to some players, but I can't be bothered playing this game while other games just make more sense and reward the player for solving puzzles. If you're just looking for a cognitive challenge, I'd play another game instead
Different game name "Secret Legend" shows in windows, missable achievements. Lazy devs, extremely boring game.
Actually brilliant
This game was great until it became bad. Do you do no hit level 1 Dark Souls runs? Then this is the game for you. So you are a fox person and you wake up on a foreign shore with no direction, so naturally you pick up a stick and proceed to murder everything you encounter. Fortunately, signs point the way to a grave you can rob for a sword. You can't read the signs but they helpfully have a picture. Fun ensues as your genocidal quest leads to challenging enemies, exploration, and lots of secrets you can find by walking into every area outside the camera view. Then you reach the quarry. Multiple enemies are a problem in soulslikes and they start to show up here, along with a mechanic that lowers your maximum health. Not permanently, but until you save. Then you get a gas mask and you're cool again, until enemy attacks start doing it too (as well as washing out the screen in painfully bright magenta light). Then you fight the Boss Scavenger and the game comes grinding to a halt right before the twist for the second half of the game. Split-second timing? I would kill for a split-second, you have less chance to react to his telegraphed attacks that frequently chain together (and he has a shotgun on a hair trigger). You need to find the pages of the game manual that has the hints to solve all the final puzzles. Once it was a bit cryptic, now you have to full on decrypt the language, and then fight your way through obnoxious enemies. Did I mention you are dead and all your stat upgrades are reset until you restore each of them individually? Invisible ghosts with long attack ranges? Sure why not. Also things appear to be powered with the enslaved souls of fox ghosts. There is a factory in continuous operation storing thousands of souls per hour in their own gigantic steel boxes activated by prayer. Stuck? You probably can't see a ramp or a ladder somewhere because of the camera. Also, now you have to deal with night and day having different available pathways. This is an obnoxiously difficult soulslike and an obnoxiously obtuse puzzle game with an obvious homage to The Legend of Zelda (the first, and notoriously difficult and obtuse one). If that's you then go nuts. For most gamers this is a hard pass, even with the accessibility options. THERE IS A NO FAIL OPTION. Alternatively an enjoy being juggled and getting a swing in every now and then mode. It's a shame since it started very promising and turned into something else. Dark Souls had the decency to roll a bounder down the first set of stairs and get you to the Asylum Demon quickly. It let you know what you were in for.
Game design muito bom e jogar ele no steam deck é muito legal. Quando eu zerar eu atualizo essa analise!
