Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

Soo good! love how the NPCs dialogue is diverse the story is fun and once i got the hang of the combat it i wanted to keep going...will definitely get the 2nd chapter!

This is my first Trails game. I went into this completely on a whim and came out of it completely blown away. It scratched that JRPG itch I've been having for a while now. It's a slow burn story-wise, but they did a very good job crafting a well thought out world with compelling characters. There's just so much attention put into the small details that really kept me hooked. Yeah the game can be kinda tropey with some anime cliches but I felt it was kinda charming. The music also helps immerse you in this world even more. I have the battle theme stuck in my head... and speaking of combat, it's really fun and kinda addicting. I'm sure the style of story telling here will bore some but even if it does please push through because it all builds up to an incredible ending that will make you anxiously wait for Chapter 2! I think the only criticism I have with the game is the localization. I feel like a lot of the dialogue felt a bit stiff and unnatural but it thankfully does improve as the game goes on. Anyway fantastic game and I genuinely cannot wait for Chapter 2.

It's a solid JRPG.

One of the best JRPGs ever made. A fantastic story following a pair of teenage siblings traveling through the country to move up in their new career as bracers (basically mercenaries that also do errands) amidst a slow simmering backdrop of political unrest that finally reaches a boiling point in the last third of the game. The best turn-based combat system of all time rounds out the package. GOTY 2025. Better than Clair Obscur.

The game starts of really slow but it grew on me over time. The combat is really engaging too.

It's a long (if you do everything) but worthy journey of adventure. If you like narratively detailed RPGs, you'll enjoy it. Looking forward to getting into the Second Chapter.
