Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

[HARD DIFFICULTY REVIEW] I played the original game for an hour or so and dropped it, mostly out of my own incompetence for the battle system, so when I saw that they had remade it in 3d I was pleasantly surprised. The gameplay loop is extremely fun, and the difficulty is a breathe of fresh air compared to many of the baby difficulty games released today. While the dialogue can get a little heavy sometimes, the story was great, the gameplay was challenging, and the game offers many modern tools including skipping dialogue and fast forwarding gameplay. I would say hard difficulty is a nice balanced blend between challenging but fair. It forces you to think about your quartz, and approach some fights from a different angle. If you're looking for a decent challenge don't bother with normal. Negatives ======== I don't have many negatives for this game, and most of these are nitpicking, but if I had to voice some- 1. Horrible English dub (seriously, change voices to Japanese and thank me later.) 2. Heavy dialogue in some areas. (You may as well grab snacks and a drink at some points) 3. Unskippable cutscenes (Positive and negative. I'm glad it forced me to watch some for story purposes. But I can imagine it being annoying on subsequent playthroughs) 4. Minor censorship in the form of changes to dialogue from original game, as well as personality changes for some main characters. Yes it is censorship, no i won't bother reading your opinion on this. Overall I really enjoyed the game, and I will be buying the second game coming out in 4 months.

A fun and beautifully crafted JRPG that holds the warmth of childhood whimsy along with some clever writing. Albeit, some dialogue is chosen that gave the taste of oddity and some tropes were less than charming. The Animation and Cel Shaded art work was incredible as well however. Good game. :3
