Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fun game, I like it much better than the sequel. Though I have my issues with it, it's a fun take on the social deduction genre, where there are a myriad of interesting roles to be and no one is just a boring "villager" with nothing to do (aside from maybe Survivors). I wish it had a larger playerbase, but most everyone's migrated to TOS2. Coven expansion is definitely worth it. (Coven) Town Traitor is the most interesting gamemode, but (Coven) All Any gets the most players.

Tl;dr: Dead game. Ranked is literally unplayable because there are not enough players (you cannot start a game without 15 players queued). This particularly blows because ranked games usually have no trolls, particularly once you get to gold rank and above. I've only seen a bit more than a dozen concurrent games in the past two weeks (it used to be hundreds), so even a regular ranked-practise game takes at least 10 minutes to get into (and that's if a troll doesn't join and quit last second before the game starts, over and over, wasting as much time as they want). Games still crashes randomly about once in every 10 games. Sometimes I'll get back-to-back crashes (which is especially annoying if you were about to win), sometimes I'll go twenty games without a crash. This bug has existed for at least a year. It's probably never going to be fixed. Mods don't seem to know how to ban the griefers and trolls giving out their entire Mafia team on day 1 (essentially losing the game before it begins), serially disconnecting every game (day 1 without fail), or claiming jailor every single game (even if they are town, significantly harming town's chances of winning). It's so bad that I know how particular usernames will troll each game, and I've seen hundreds of others complain in the lobby about the same usernames over and over. I'm not sure if this game is free nowadays, but I wouldn't download it if it is free. There are plenty of other, better Mafia simulators out there. It was a great game 5 years ago (hence my hours). It's not anymore.
Mods be banning people and not caring trying to force players to TOS2 which sucks.
Good game, the most horrid community to accompany it. Imagine tryharding in town of salem
Got suspended for 3 days for writing "RIP Charlie Kirk" once in game chat. Since suspensions and bans are the same except a ban is for repeat offenders, this is a banable offense. Also the game is close to dead and tos2 is much worse
Town of Salem has devolved into a cesspool of unrestrained bigotry, and its report system is an absolute farce. I’ve been playing and reporting racists since 2014, only to be mocked and harassed with zero consequences for those spewing hateful filth! It’s sickening that a game supposedly built on community interaction can’t be bothered to protect Black/ir any form of players—or any kind of ideology—from vile, repetitive hate speech. The developers clearly don’t give a damn about accountability; they’d rather ignore the problem than ban the worst offenders. If you’re thinking of playing, don’t. Save yourself the heartache of being relentlessly targeted because the creators can’t be bothered to enforce their own rules. Town of Salem is the last place anyone who values basic human decency should spend their time or money.
got banned for joking in the chat , the devs are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Warning: In-Game Cash Shop This mobile app is infested with a toxic mobile app style cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money/credit card details to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can play the game.
Note: This mobile app may not work on modern builds of Windows, reporting localisation errors and unreachable servers. "Town of Salem" is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. I know, I know, this may or may not have been launched on Steam first, but ultimately what matters is that this is up on Google Play (where it's free, you have to pay for it on Steam because, you know how mobile devs like to treat PC gamers). It's got all the qualities of a mobile app. It'll run on your iPhone. It's designed for and works foremost on mobile phones. If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, and it hangs out in the duck shop, we do not therefore rush to conclude it is not a duck. Yeah, PCs can run mobile apps. That doesn't mean all crappy mobile apps are extraordinary PC gaming experiences, does it? No. So, "Town of Salem" is an older mobile app from 2014. It's a venerable 11 years old at the time of this review. It's a ripoff of Werewolf/Mafia, an old hypothetical party game where a bunch of people get together, get different "jobs", and a couple of them are "Werewolves" that secretly murder off the rest of the town and everyone else has to try to deduce who the werewolves are before everyone gets killed off. The old social deduction genre. These guys found great success in ripping off someone else's game, but since mid 2023, player counts dropped sharply and now there's only enough players for a handful of matches at any given time... if the current trend continues the game will be completely dead in about a year. Think about that a bit before you go throwing your money at a mobile app on Steam that you could just download and play for free on your iPhone. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the mobile app, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the mobile app, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Because the mobile app is broken and unplayable for me, it may also not work for other gamers. This is a solid reason to approach this mobile app with some scepticism. So, should you buy this mobile app? Is this one of the best of the 110,000+ games on Steam? Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $5 USD, on app stores, it's free. Even after the up front price there's a toxic cash shop! Disgusting! Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. FIVE BUCKS FOR A FREE MOBILE APP. Just who do they think we are? For comparison, the $5 asking price for this mobile app could get you real PC games like "Outlast", "Frostpunk" or "Dragon Age: Origins". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this "free" (but not for YOU!) mobile app.
The game as a whole is fun however it is currently suffering from the fact that it's over 10 years old and depending on the time of the day can have anywhere from 20 to 300 players. The system says 4000+ however 8/10 times I will stumble upon the same exact group of people for hours with little to no variety. That is fine however some of the players are quite toxic and are there to just wreak havoc by throwing games on purpose or by harassing people and while there is a reporting system it feels as if there is 1 person keeping an eye on things and they are trying to catch up on sleep and by the time they ban those players they have made new accounts and are back at it again. The reason I am recommending this is because the game is fun. However I do advise you take the time to read up on how the game is played since you don't exactly get a tutorial.
