About
After a normal commute goes horribly wrong, you wake up in a strange land with your only weapon being an air hockey paddle.
In this adventure inspired by the Touhou Project, battle through Gensokyo with bullet hell battles reimagined as chaotic air hockey duels, use your non-existent charm and wit to talk your way out of (and into) trouble, and join Reimu and Marisa on a quest to save the world! …probably.

Talk to a wide array of characters!
Meet faces both familiar and NEW! (New unless you saw the fanart for this game! Uh oh!) Get dragged into ridiculous situations and schemes, and watch everything go to hell!
Air hockey-based fighting?! HUH?!!!! How does that work? Guess I'll have to find out!
Go head-to-head with opponents in an extremely unique combat system; scoring pucks, completing minigames and dodging attacks alike!
Live-action elements
Watch Kronington do stupid stuff on film that's it
Huge original soundtrack
If you keep on dying, at least you can listen to the cool jazzy 64-track OST by Kronington while you do! Featuring both original compositions and full reimaginings of Touhou classics, you can enjoy hours of funk and bebop solos cheering you on as you graze danmaku!
Le funny shenanigans
A lighthearted (not really), absurd journey filled with funny jokes (not really), and an unreasonable amount of references than necessary (really).
Multiple endings
Your choices shape how the story unfolds. How badly can you mess this up? Find out in...

It is times like these I wish I could give a tentative recommendation. The game is good, very janky, but the former is only true if you have a tolerance for zoomer memes mixed with fandom nostalgia. ------------------------ "Would you like to enter my gap?" "no mom told me not to enter womens gaps" Thus sets the tone of this unabashed comedy based on the Touhou Project series. Thus begins...
Gensokyo Odyssey

Gensokyo Odyssey is a visual novel for the most part with minigames involving Air Hockey acting as a stand-in for the series classic Danmaku. You are... a non-descript, dreamless and motivationless zoomer-pilled student in some part of the Big Apple, of NYC. As is standard of a common fandom concept in the western sphere, a random incident either invites you or pulls you into Gensokyo. In this case, you are actually... invited by none other than Yukari. So, you do what most people would do when a stranger tells you there's a journey to enjoy should you accept. Yeah, you decline the offer, suspicious of it. Still, you are roped into it one way or another and end up in Gensokyo, vehemently looking for a way home while meeting a colorful cast of characters interpreted from their source material under the lens of English fandom memes, general memes and being flanked by the game's OC. The OC herself, much like you, is an outsider, but she fits right in with the colorful cast of characters with her wise-cracking remarks rather much like yourself. For the most part, Gensokyo Odyssey makes fun of common series tropes and makes small jokes involving character interpretations in the fandom. The artstyle is also deranged, grabbing portraits from a wide variety of skilled artists, each with their own westernized flair... and there's Youmu, drawn literally in MSPaint. Interrupting every other event is a Danmaku Air-Hockey battle where your goal is... of course, to score by pushing the puck into your opponent's goal while simultaneously defending yours from their attacks. This being a Touhou game, it sports enough Danmaku to block your naturally-large hockey paddle by hitting it. While you don't get pushed back or anything, getting hit does naturally result in you getting damaged, upon which if you lose all HP you lose, as one would expect. Thus there is still an element of Danmaku battle here and there, dodging attacks while shooting pucks into goals, and then facing the inevitable Spell Card thrown at you if you or your enemy scores on any goal. Unfortunately, the game itself is very rudimentary. There is only one save slot, and so if you miss an event as the game has minor branching paths or hidden items in order to get to an extra boss, you're gonna have to start over. There's no skip button that skips dialogues. There is no chapter select. And in previous versions, the base game had memory leak issues that required you to restart the game every now and then. Supposedly this is fixed, but I haven't finished another run of the base game again. The recent update introduced Kakkoi's Laundromat, a side-story featuring the eponymous character and OC. Trying to make a living with Okuu, they are forced to engage in money laundering and heists in order to make ends meet after uselessly spending all of their cash in the casino, rendering them destitute. It is important for me to say that in this mode and on Blackjack, there are some really hard to get achievements as they are hidden, but these game modes do not have a save function. Buckle up, you're gonna have to do this in one go. And in Laundromat, you're gonna need 25 million bucks, too, to finish it. Despite being ostensibly a very high-effort ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by Kronington, the game has some really amazing big band arrangements. Consider listening to the OST on YouTube and deciding whether it makes or breaks the game for you.

Pros: - Zoomer humor with a few funny nonsequiturs mostly based on character source interpretations or even lore accurate interpretations. - Great Big Band and Jazz soundtrack renditions of Touhou music. - Air Hockey danmaku is surprisingly serviceable and fun. Cons: - Lack of certain QoL common in visual novels. - In Blackjack and Laundromat modes, no saving or even quitting in the latter (alt+F4 or quit the game directly on Steam to end it)
