Aimless and boring. Not bad, but the kind of builder that keeps throwing gotchas at you. The pacing is set by how much science per second you generate which on paper sounds fine until you realize that all of the game is about refactoring the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beaver town because every unlock causes layouts to become more space efficient so what's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point of that huge structure from a few years ago that is just an eyesore and a waste of space? Tear it down. Start from scratch. Until you close the game because this is all you've been doing for 10 hours and nothing you built is permanent. The lategame is slower and arguably what I want from this game, but by then you're just resisting increasingly long droughts. There's ♥♥♥♥ all to do after you finish science and solve mortality. The game optimizes itself out of being fun.
Been playing this since alpha and really enjoying the game. Just recently noticed the trans flag on the roof of the "district crossing", the building for "transitioning" between districts, the only building with a distinct color sceme, kind of breaks immersion. I'd rather not have to be blatantly reminded of real-world issues in a video game that should not be related to current day issues. Just as it would have been jarring to have the Covenant in Halo 1 be instead called the Dervish (a direct reference to islam, during 2001 no less). Just like I'd rather not have the American flag, or any flag, on the district center. Get politics out of games.
They removed sluices from the game and made damns a giant resource dumb with pumps and power if you want a lot of spare water and not a lot of tanks taking up land. Biggest downgrade in a game in a long time.
I bought this game few years ago and finally have time to play the 1.0. This game could be good, but I would not recommend it to anyone who has never played a sandbox city builder before. - No story or campaign mode: You do not get quests from the beavers, and you do not care whether they live or die, there are zero interaction you can do with your beavers. - No sound effects: Unlike most building games, this title is in version 1.0 but still lacks basic audio. There are no sounds for construction or cutting wood etc. The beavers are completely mute, no ambient sound, trapped in a forever loop of background music. - Average graphics: The visuals look dated by 2026 standards. The map is styled like a diorama, so zooming out reveals a massive cube that completely breaks immersion for me. - Boring daylight cycle: There is no dynamic weather and season to switch things up. - Flawed science point system: Unlike other games with traditional tech trees, this game displays every option upfront. You just wait for time to pass to unlock items one by one. I prefer hidden trees that require you to unlock level 1 items before seeing level 3 options. - Not beginner-friendly: The game does not cater to newcomers. It is impossible to know what a building item actually does, except for brief descriptions like "can build on top." Sometimes you have a lot of food but then if you don't pay attention it drops to zero, the game didn't tell you why or show you a summary, therefore you miss the chance to plan ahead. - Not rewarding: You spend hours dealing with badtides or surviving droughts, yet you do not even get a beaver congratulating you. I prefer a proper incentive system. - No random beaver event, I would like to see a beaver need help or other personality or whatever, instead of all working like slave, I turned on 24 hours shift they did not complain. - No goal, no target, no direction. I cannot see the relation of what my beavers need and why I need to develop a technology, if they have enough carrot to eat why bother for automation. Overall this game is meant for enthusiasts who want to test water dams and complex vertical builds. It does not actually feel like building a grand beaver empire.

I love the game and I would recommend it to others. Also, I wish you could make smaller maps because my PC can't handle the big maps. Please and thank you!
If you like Factorio do not install this game. It will take you and put you in ADHD coma that you won't be able to get out from nor sleep. Definitely reccomended.
