About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

Just play this, man. It's actually peak.
I came for the language deciphering, I stayed for the surprisingly moving story. A few times needed a guide, because while I knew the answer, I didn't know how it wanted it, or as a sentence or just a single word. I also kinda wished it had a reference of where a word was used (like in Seven Days to End With You), though to paraphrase Harrison Ford, "This ain't that kinda game, kid".
absolutely unique and I loved it personnaly. can't really compare to existing games but if you are curious and liked games like chants of senaar or metroidbrainia you'll like this

非常美丽、非常浪漫、非常令人感动的游戏。@-245_UNDEF
This game makes primary school maths fun, outstanding work. Also, the way your team reacts to your decisions has so far been wildly accurate to what I was feeling and thinking. EDIT: It is no longer primary school math.
This is, in my opinion, one of the cleverest and coolest games I've ever seen... Take the "first learning Rocky's language" part of project hail mary... except you're doing it! 100% worth the $10, and I hope the dev keeps making games.
i think it drags a little bit near the end, but its a great game and the experience of figuring out what the aliens are and what they try to tell you is so cool, very cool experience if you like doing math a lot. (there's a lot of math)
I am a graduate student in theoretical chemistry. The game does have some genuinely creative concepts, but it doesn’t adhere all that closely to the mathematics and science it draws on. As someone in the field, there were quite a few moments that honestly got on my nerves. For example, if Bautista had arbitrarily performed the recalibration for us in advance, that would imply that he had been communicating with them much earlier than we had. Hiding that fact from us would essentially amount to a research ethics violation—he would have been withholding relevant data. Or there’s the fact that, at some point, all fractional values somehow start being represented in a way that conveniently assumes our base-10 number system, simply because that’s what our UI uses... I understand that maintaining perfect scientific and mathematical accuracy throughout the game may have been difficult. Still, given how heavily the game sells itself on this particular concept, I found the execution rather disappointing compared with what I had expected.
I like the idea, but in practice I find it a bit too boring and repetitive.
What a fantastic game! Simple, grounded, yet full of soul. I would definitely only recommend it to those with an intense interest for mathematics and the natural sciences. Not that any of the concepts presented are very complex, but not knowing them ahead of time could slow down the game to a crawl. For its intended target audience, it's a brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable puzzle game where the main mechanic is translation, which makes for a perfect mix of problem-solving and self-expression. It is both funny and heartfelt, with an effortlessly sincere writing style. A wonderful piece of sci-fi full of retro charm. While it does have several flaws, namely missing some obvious QoL features and a few subpar puzzles, they are easily outshined by its strengths.
