Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

。制作人不会是S/mileage的粉丝吧。。

The Love’s Ordeal, developed and published by Mountain and Sea Studio, is an FMV-driven interactive experience that blends elements of dating simulation, visual novel storytelling, and first-person immersion into something that feels both experimental and tightly focused on its central theme. Rather than presenting romance in a conventional way, it frames the entire journey as a test of discipline and desire, placing the player in a situation where every interaction carries an undercurrent of temptation. This approach gives the game a distinct identity, even within a genre already known for its emphasis on choice and character relationships. The narrative follows Nengchi, a cultivator nearing the end of his spiritual journey who must pass one final trial before achieving transcendence. This trial takes place in a surreal realm populated by alluring figures, each designed to challenge his resolve in different ways. While the premise may initially resemble a typical character-driven story, it quickly becomes clear that the game is less about forming relationships and more about navigating the tension between restraint and indulgence. Each encounter is constructed to test the player’s judgment, turning what might otherwise be straightforward dialogue choices into decisions that carry thematic weight. A key aspect of the experience is its use of a first-person perspective combined with live-action sequences. This design choice significantly alters how the story is perceived. Instead of observing characters from a distance, players engage with them directly, creating a sense of immediacy that heightens both immersion and discomfort. Conversations feel more personal, and decisions feel more consequential, even when the mechanics behind them remain relatively simple. This perspective is one of the game’s strongest features, as it reinforces the idea that the player is not just guiding the protagonist but actively inhabiting his role. The structure of the game is built around branching paths and multiple outcomes. Each decision influences the direction of the narrative, leading to a wide range of possible scenarios and endings. This encourages repeated playthroughs, as a single run only reveals a portion of the overall story. Over time, revisiting earlier choices and exploring alternative routes allows players to piece together a more complete understanding of the narrative. However, this design also introduces a degree of repetition, as players must revisit familiar scenes to uncover new content. While this can be rewarding for those invested in the story, it may feel tedious for others. Character interactions are central to maintaining engagement. Each figure encountered represents a different type of emotional or psychological challenge, with distinct personalities that shape how their respective storylines unfold. Some interactions lean toward curiosity and connection, while others emphasize manipulation or danger. This variety helps prevent the experience from becoming monotonous, even though all interactions ultimately serve the same overarching theme. The writing supports this by maintaining a tone that shifts between intrigue, tension, and introspection, depending on the situation. Visually, the game relies on its FMV presentation to create a sense of realism within an otherwise fantastical setting. The use of live-action performances adds a layer of authenticity that contrasts with the surreal nature of the narrative. Lighting, framing, and staging are used effectively to establish mood, often reinforcing the sense of unease that underpins the experience. While the production values are not on the level of large-scale projects, they are consistent enough to maintain immersion throughout. Thematically, The Love’s Ordeal is heavily focused on mature and suggestive content, which is integral to its design rather than incidental. This focus defines the game’s appeal and ensures that it resonates most strongly with a specific audience. For those who are receptive to its tone, this aspect enhances the experience by aligning gameplay and narrative around a unified concept. For others, it may limit engagement, as the emphasis on these themes can overshadow the broader narrative. Despite its strengths, the game is not without its shortcomings. The reliance on repetition within its branching structure can affect pacing, and the overall narrative depth, while conceptually interesting, does not always fully develop its ideas. Additionally, while the first-person perspective adds immersion, it also places greater emphasis on the quality of performances and direction, which can vary in effectiveness. Ultimately, The Love’s Ordeal is a game that succeeds through commitment to its concept. It takes familiar elements from visual novels and dating simulations and reframes them into a more focused exploration of temptation and choice. While it may not appeal to a wide audience, it offers a distinctive experience for those willing to engage with its themes and structure. Rating: 8/10

Love the game for what it offers. All the girls were pretty, and endings for each girl satisfied me. Everyone acted well, especially in the emotional scenes in chapter 4. The music is okay, and the production values are also great. I wish it was a bit longer.
